I had an SNES off the strength that my Mom was buying my consoles back then, so she went from getting me the NES when it came out on Christmas, to getting me the SNES when it became available that Christmas. I didn't even know that a Sega Genesis was until I saw one in the bedroom of a friend who had an older bro who was old enough to buy his own shyt.
First time I played Streets of Rage 1 and Road Rash I was like "THE fukk IS THIS shyt?!" and was fukking enthralled.
But as is human nature, nikkas started looking to rep their set and was like
"My Super Nintendo got Mario, you ain't got Mario, Sonic sucks.
And Sega nikkas was like
"We got Streets and Road Rash. Plus our Alladin better than Y'alls!"
Found me a partner who had a Genesis and we'd swap and both eat.
He got to experience Super Mario World, Final Fight, A proper version of Street fighter, Chrono Trigger.
While I got to experience Gunstar heroes, Streets 2, Road Rash 2, Sonic 2-3/Knuckles, Ranger X, Bulls Vs Blazers and so much sports game piff.
shyt like that is why I never stanned consoles, I wanted to play ALL the games and just got ALL the platforms.

I love that Evander Holyfield game......I miss that game, my favorite childhood game. I remember my friends and my uncles wanted to play Evander Holyfield, shyt was look real at that time

Breh my neighbor had a Genesis and I used to feel so sorry for dude because all them nikkas had the exact same library: Vectorman, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic, Golden Axe, Sonic, Altered Beast, Earthworm Jim, & Streets of Rage 2.
Meanwhile on the SNES side there were so many hidden gems. Chrono Trigger is a universal classic now, but I remember when somebody first showed me the game back in the day. Dude had to pay $70 for it and got it from an actual game store. That game is the video game version of Illmatic, we had seen it before but it was absolute perfection.

I had Sega first since my one Neighbor had it too plus my Brother and his Homies playing Madden & Live heavy but the SNES would follow when playing Street Fighter,MK2 and the various RPGs came thru...a more Balanced Battle if anything
Console wars in person was way more fun than online.

My daddy sold dope lol I had both , sega channel was that shytI remember nikkaz was legit throwing hands on the playground for that console war.
There was no social media or anything it was on-site if you nikkaz was talking shyt about your console.
