The Truth
personally i prefer this over the memorized shyt....this doesn't look at pretty but def more useful.
this was pretty much what I did when sparring

I purposely would just sit on the ropes and let people try to hit me just to get my defense up. I would only fire back if I felt like they were getting too comfortable hitting me against the ropes

If you practice jiu Jitsu, your clinch game would be deadly. Age is not a question when it comes to clinching or even kicking. Land a nice low leg kick on someone, make them think twice of even going near you. Boxing is a way less superior art, as a fellow martial artist you should know that.

If you wanted to box simply for the love of the sport, that would be different but you're asking to dominate stand up while not taking it to the ground, Muay Thai is the most superior and it's not even up for debate. Using Legs, Knees, elbows, hands are better than using just hands.

As for age, putting someone in a clinch where 99.9 percent of people don't know how to get out of (even Rich Franklin) and feeding them knees is way less taxing on the body than standing there and throwing hands using reflexes. With age, reflexes and speed decreases as well, so with your logic, Muay Thai is still the route to go.

There's no such thing has a superior art, washed up boxers win kickboxing matches all the time wit no knowledge of kick boxing
if a boxers learns how to check leg kicks, muy thai would be useless against them

The greatest thing you learn from boxing is strategy and manipulating your opponent to do what you want them to do

You're going to bring up Tom Erikson to prove your point? :mjlol:

For stand up, a superior art is something you can use all 8 limbs with. Boxing is a great sport but its obviously limited with only using two fists. Put a boxer in a plum clinch and feed him knees, he won't know what to do. I've trained my whole life in boxing and just started 7 years ago in Muay Thai. You can learn all that from Kickboxing as well, especially the Dutch form. Just maintain distance with a boxer and feed him leg kicks and then a head kick, try ducking from that, or just put him in a clinch. A skilled muay thai fighter vs a skilled boxer would be easy work for the muay thai fighter. If you know anything at all about FIGHTING not boxing, you would know that. again, i love boxing and the art/sweet science so I don't know want to turn this into a boxing vs kickboxing debate but the truth is boxing is a limited form of combat.

You're not going to get a boxer in that position, which is why no boxers has ever been in that position when they have fought kick boxer
they either get leg kicked to death

Francois Botha who sucks at boxing beat Peter Aerts in kickboxing

you moving the gold the post

Shannon briggs isn't close to being the greatest boxer ever lmao, they guy used leg kicks against him, and still got KO'd because he got setup
boxing isn't jus about throwing punches, you never boxed before you in your life or would understand that

you laughing t Tom Erickson, but he is professional he would fukk up in a kickboxing match, styles don't win fights FIGHTERS DO

also the best Dutch Kickboxers KNOW HOW TO BOX the guys who dominate kickboxing ARE ALSO PROFESSIONAL BOXERS
like Nickey Holzken, the cut the ring off and throw combinations most kickboxers have no clue how to deal with

I'd say 6 months if you have no striking experience. Drills are important, but your temperament is also crucial. Grappling is somewhat different (I do Judo and BJJ), you get thrown, swept, bridged, etc, there are ways to recover. Boxing for the most part, you get rocked or hit with a shot that dazes you or slows you down, THAT is what will determine how you do in boxing. What do you do when every fiber in your being says, "Run away"?

A good gym won't put you in with killers, but even then, killers will hold back and work with you as they were new at one point too.

If they do go full-tilt, then they are an a$$hole lol....

Finally started training after prepping with calisthetics at home.

Nothing could prepare me.

Why didnt yall tell me you be going hard like this :damn:

Im sittin here legit nervous about training tonight.

Not because of sparring. Just the training. There was females in there getting through workouts that had me damn near in shambles. The brief moment of rest between showing technique is barely enough before u back at it. It doesnt end. Shirt drenched. Had me questioning if one should even be in there without being in top shape. O lawd.

These boxers/kickboxers go hwaaarrd. :damn:

Legs hurting from thursday to today. Gat Damn

a feint is used to open your defenses if you bite..what type of feint did he do? eyes, head, hands, body?

to render most feints useless you gotta make sure you're not completely in the man's range to actually hit you..you're just starting out so it will prolly get you sometime to get used to them so you dont overthink and get too wound up

We were practicing

Throw hook
Duck right hook
Duck left hook

He is a long time student

Before throwing his hook he pump faked me like he was about to throw but didnt.

I imagine if your movement gets predictable off that pump fake u can be set up to be struck.

I aint like that feelin :aicmon: so i thought.

How do i interrupt the rythme of someone trying to set me up like that if im already in their punching range.

I think ima buy headgear and let my wife beat on me all weekend
