Have the conditioning to do
15 pull ups
30 sit ups
30 squats and 20 minutes jump roping
Plus work on the fundamentals
The jab(both body and head) and the proper footwork techniques like side stepping and pivoting, and how to block punches
Practice daily for six months before sparring

Honestly... It depends on you.

If you're there to learn, you can start immediately. Meta sparring, light sparring, and situational sparring.

If you're there to prove a point, wait until you feel like you're in good enough shape and prepared to take some heavy shots. Mentally just be ready for a fight.

10 years? Is that ordinary or do you have concerns about being CONCUSSED

@krackdagawd

the older you get the less nikkas like to spar really :manny: unless you are an am or pro you shouldn't be sparring that often. Going back to work w your ribs hurting, bruised and shyt nah im good :hubie:..

As far as when you will be ready only you know the answer to that or your coach. Before you do full on sparring though get a few sessions in where you are just working on defense nothing too crazy the various slipping of the 1-2 which is what you will be seeing the most often, catching, parrying etc.....once you have that stuff down and you feel your punching technique and footwork are decent step in and give it a go.

So how often should a man in his late 30s be sparring if he decides to take it there against people that fight amateur

Let's say today is the day I'm in shape and have the fundamentals to spar.

I train 3 days a week

N you said you want some am fights right? I'd say weekly(light) or every other week if you having tough sessions. But everyone is different you gotta kind of fine tune things in what works best for you.

I will never have an amateur fight. Just enough to beat a tough guy without grappling

I'd also like to add that maybe you should observe a few sessions to see the temperament of the gym.

Some gyms have spar wars, tournaments, rankings, and all kinds of other silly shyt :pachaha:

Others just give each person the freedom to move at their own speed.

Personally I think that you'll be fine, but make sure you're around good people, or people of the same mindset as you. It's night and day.

Why don't you take Muay Thai? More superior form of stand up. Just put someone in a plum clinch in a street fight and it's over.
