The South = huge ass region
The Midwest = huge ass region
NY = huge ass city.
LA can dikkride the Bay like they've been doing but it's ok since it's all under one giant ass umbrella. Memphis, Houston, Atlanta and Miami can all do different shyt and still operate under the banner of the South. These are things entire regions have that a city like NY doesn't have the ability to do. NY couldn't sound like Philly and get away with it even though we're less than 2 hours away from them.
and make no mistake, any region can sound like any other region and not have this stigma of wave riding that NY would get. J. Cole can sound like a straight up NY rapper and gets no criticism over it. Lil Uzi Vert doesn't sound anything close to a Philly rapper, but it's OK. Roddy Rich sounds like he's straight outta Atlanta, but it's fine. NY rappers can't do anything other than what is expected of them and what is expected of NY rappers is a sausage fest in a hallway wearing hoodies being super lyrical and musty. There's a lot of people who think NY never stopped looking like EPMD's Crossover video

There’s nothing funny about it. NY has direct ties with Chicago. BK specifically. And this has been since the early 90s. The GD’s here are directly linked to Chicago.When it is all said and done Chief Keef is going down as one of the top 5 more influential rappers in the last decade. Not sure how it happened but it did.
