The anti-NY bias never ceases to amaze.

Pop Smoke just got on a Travis Scott song. Drake just hopped on an Axl beat. People are fukking with this wave.

Yet another year of NY making a dent on the charts and breaking new artists but you stupid motherfukkers are too caught up in bringing back some old glory days and this petty regionalism shyt.

When it is all said and done Chief Keef is going down as one of the top 5 more influential rappers in the last decade. Not sure how it happened but it did.

Also, NY Drill :pachaha: :dead:
Y’all give that nikka too much credit. He didn’t invent drill music. Drill music is just banging on wax over “trap” beats. And a lot of the early drill guys had soul sample beats on their tapes as well.

As it pertains to the NY scene sonically Axl’s beats are derived from DJ L’s sped up footwork drill beats his work with G-Herbo. Completely different from what Keef was doing with Young Chop.

he was the main guy
, it was 300/GBE young chop/DJ L, herb and the other guys they had beef with

so say we give keef too much credit is silly, he was the main catalyst , its not even that deep, yes it takes a village but you cant deny keef at the topn of the food chain when it comes to drill, just facts breh

That’s facts. I’m not denying that.

However y’all dismissing the influence of other drill rappers and producers. Rarely do others get mentioned. Keef also bodied his career.

Lil Durk was always my favorite out the drill wave

Drill beats >>>> 2019 trap beats

:manny:

Most production im hearing nowadays (particularly the type of tracks that dababy tends to rap over) are stale as fukk and basic.

Im not a fan of most drill rappers whether they come from the uk chicago ny etc but the beats are hard as fukk.:whew:
I hear what you're saying but even in 2019 artists from Atlanta & the South in general definitely have a distinct sound.

The problem I have with drill is that there's nothing innovative about the sound at all. Not saying there aren't some good songs but I can't think of any drill artist in 2019 who made a good body of work.

I'm in my 20s so definitely no nostalgia for boom bap records either.

Facts. Young chops influence was trap and memphis crunk.

Dj L's influence was footwork battle tracks, which is basically the b*stard grand child of ghetto house music for lack of a better term.

Although keefs early production with dj kenn very somewhat similar to Dj Ls beats as well.

100% i feel you

alot of people dismiss others ive seen it, not everyone is in the know tho

even the guys that would dance in their videos made an impact on people here in the uk,
keef and GBE never danced in their videos

me personally i never cared about lil jojo or any of the guys GBE beefed with but other people took a liking to them and even say they were more of an influence than keef

i liked durk L's anthem and This aint what you want but keef's work rate and truble in the media was what made me keep my eyes and ears on him

chop , L and kenn were influenced by lex luger at the time, sure they had other influences but DJ L was making soul sampled tracks too , the type meek mll would rap on back in the days

but yeah the sound evolved
