Not just southern rappers.. Gangsta rap too that revolved around killing eachother and treating women like sh*t
Nah gansta rap was out since the late 80s and the culture was doing fine.
Even with Gansta rap it brought forth a prideful, rebellious fighting spirt to the table amongst the ignorance.
Plus we got gems like Pac and Cube out of that Era.

Southern rappers Specifically brought c00ning and low intelligence bullshyt to the table and here we are today.
Ironically you women are the number one supporters of southern bullshyt and the reason why its so prominent to this day.

Whole generation of bytches literally abandoned r&b to shake they asses to trap music online all day with they kids in the background.:mjlol:

Guess those gangsta rappers was right about alot of yall.

The 70s are strong 2nd place
you young bloods really need to do your research. black aesthetics in the 80's was completely watered down. and non threatening. 1 mj bringing brooke Shields to the Grammy to celebrate thriller did not represent. 2 the cosby show refusing to addressing racism in Brooklyn did not represent. 3 coming to america was written by a white man.the 70's was were it's at

....
I think a lot of people have spent too much time talking about movies television and music As being Some sort of bench marks for what being black is.

I understand this about the entertainment industry it’s ruled by white people and they put out any images they want. If they want 20 black movies to come out this year then they will come out. If they don’t want any black movies to come out this year the none will come out. Is that simple. The country wanted to give the image of Black people moving more into the main stream during the 80s. That’s why you see TV shows like the Cosby show and movies like welcome to America.
Its a sign of the increased immaturity (no adults in the room) that has pervaded the community since
the early 1990s.

The Dr. King generation and earlier ones did not overvalue entertainment the way it is valued now. They had
other priorities like raising their families and gaining fair employment, housing, education, etc.

Low key shut down the thread
I don’t value entertainment over everything so how did this shut down the thread? I’ve made threads about people overvaluing celebs before so I’m not sure how this applies to me. You all are on the opposite extreme.

Off topic but does anybody have a link to that thread that showed black fashion from the 50's and 60's?
