How is it trolling to say you like the Black aesthetic of the 80s?

Yeah.. It was more black pride back in the 80s.. It went down hill there after..

this is a different statement from the OP that I absolutely agree with

I would even say it trickled slightly into the early 90s

African medallions
African garments
Positive music
Unity being promoted

It was beautiful back in the 80s..

Then like you said, it trickled into the 90s.. Then something happened..
What actually happened is whats up for debate..

yep...I remember as a teen going to packed churches/auditoriums to hear john henrik clarke speak...ivan van sertima...heard leonard jeffries speak a few times...black consciousness/empowerment was actually cool and not looked at as “militant”...even attended the mosque up in harlem for a few years...again packed out to see khalid muhammad

I absolutely remember the leather medallions...and the music again made it cool to be a black and intellectual...by the mid-90s it all seemed like a “fad/phase” that had passed tho :(
