if you dont mind my asking, how many calories did you cut a day?

it needs to be said that calories are all relative on age and current height/weight

someone who is 6'6" 300 will have different requirements than say someone who is 5'10" 200

High Intensity lifting IS cardio :snoop: If you trying to get big don't worry about the treadmill.

Sweat is sweat brehs.

maybe with intense supersetting but your heart rate wont stay at an elevated pace with normal weightlifting like it will with LISS or HIIT

cardio is still the best method for improving your heart rate and lung capacity which is important for overall health and utilization of the muscle you put on

fitness surprisingly is something similar to religion and politics

everyone has a pretty deep rooted opinion on these things

part of it is the impact of what someone may have said to them at one point in time or the fact you have an industry with so much misleading info that drives people to buy products they dont need etc workout dvd and the what not

Just like anything else, cardio is a tool. Everyone's going to have different opinions, and in fact, several people can have those different opinions and be right. What really matters are the goals YOU personally want to achieve with your fitness/work-out regiment. That will determine exactly where something like cardio will fit in.

Not going to lie, this thread is filled with an abundance of pseudo-science. People shouldn't blatantly knock cardio either. Especially since, Americans, as well as people in other countries, are more sedentary(in active) now than ever.

Most people would rather take the bus, quarter of a mile, than walk(:why: , see this all the time)

SMDH.... And these are the same mofos that be selling uninformed people dreams thinking that an ab roller alone will give a 400lb fat bytch a beach body..

Weightlifting does help build muscle to help burn fat better but it is counterproductive to people that are excessively overweight because.... IT ADDS WEIGHT TO AN ALREADY HEAVY BODY THEREFORE MAKING THE HEART HAVE TO WORK HARDER TO PUMP BLOOD TO THE REST OF THE BODY. THE EASIER THE HEART CAN PUMP BLOOD TO THE REST OF THE BODY, THE LONGER A PERSON CAN WORKOUT. THE FINAL RESULT IS WEIGHT LOSS THAT PUTS LESS STRESS ON THE HEART TO PUMP THE AMOUNT OF BLOOD NEEDED, WHETHER FOR A WORKOUT OR DAILY LIVING...

You should be banned from posting in the Gym forum and I hope no one ever certifies you to become a physician...

This is not true at all.......

I like swimming best cardio exercise as it involves most of the body parts while swimming and has many benefits like. It improves acrobatic capacity and build your hips shoulders, arms and back muscles. It fights against stork and heart disease.

I have never done calorie counting but i replaced white carbs/ starch with slow digesting carbs (e.g replaced white Rice with brown rice), normal potatoes with sweet potatoes, avoid sugar and fruit juice and have the actual fruit. I also buy a lot of spinach, brocholi, almonds and tend to eat more of that with grilled meat, chicken or fish at every meal.

Switching is not hard at all, it really starts at the grocery store. Initially i ate the same stuff for two weeks straight until i got used to it. I still eat junk/ slightly crappy food about once a week because i have to entertain corporate clients but i make sure to train to near failure at the gym after that (combine plyometrics with weights and finish off by running up and down a flight of stairs 20 times).

If we're just talking weight loss and getting in shape, than cardio is a lot less important than your diet. You can do tons of cardio and not lose much if you're not eating right and running at a calorie deficit.

If we're talking general advice for healthy living, then cardio is essential. You don't need to be running 5Ks every morning, or be in the pool like Michael Phelps though. Throw in 30 minutes of some sort of cardio everyday and you'll be helping your heart, among other things.

It's difficult to find cardio you can enjoy though, especially if you don't like playing sports. I hate running just to run.
