Loved this show, but I agree with everyone else. It has taken a huge nose dive. They seem to be mailing it in at this point. The only reason I'm still watching is because I'll be damned if I put this much time into a show and not see who the hell the mother is.

Sorta. "Friends" is a traditional multi-cam sitcom. But "How I Met Your Mother" is a hybrid of a traditional multi-cam sitcom (with a laugh track) & a single-cam sitcom. HIMYM is shot multi-cam, but HIMYM is shot over 3 days instead of in front of a live audience. That allows them use comedy & flashbacks that's reminiscent of a smart single-cam sitcoms like "30 Rock", "Scrubs", & "Arrested Development".

The chick Ted pulled from the last episode (The Fortress), was bad

The irony is the show was set to be cancelled multiple times, but barely got renewed (Ted and the goat story being delayed 1 season just to find out it happened on his 31st birthday)

I think at this point though, CBS is just the ones milking it and its not even really the actors at this point. Honestly, they themselves don't even see interested in the show much now. Sad thing is there still is one more season left of this show and it only make sense Ted meet his wife for the series finale.

The funniest thing is, Britney Spears guest appearances is probably what saved the show from getting cancelled.

CBS pretty much wants this to continue for as long as it can cause it's a good lead in for it's Monday night comedies.

Real talk it comes down to this, Do you like the smart single-cam sitcoms I listed in the previous post:
"Arrested Development", "30 Rock" or "Scrubs"?

If you like those shows, you will like "How I Met Your Mother".



But, if you're expecting "How I Met Your Mother" to be like the other sitcoms that air on CBS ("The Big Bang Theory", "Two & Half Men" , "2 Broke Girls", "Mike & Molly" or etc.), than you'll notice HIMYM has very different narrative, format, & comedy than those CBS multi-cam sitcoms.
