Didnt like it. Basically everything they been building up to in the past seasons was undone. Barney and Robin. Ted stuck back into that endless simp circle he been in for the past 8 seasons. Only liked Barnny's individual story line actually committing to his daughter for once in his life.

Guys I watched the last two episodes, but not the past two seasons, is it worth checking on the eps I missed?

They spent this past season showing us how great the mother was and tried to put her on equal level with the main cast

They didn't even do that right. She was underused for so much of the season that a lot of moments Ted had with her felt extremely disingenuous. This one episode should have been what the entire season was like.

Just watch a couple of episodes "The Autumn of Breakups," the season 8 finale, and "How Your Mother Met Me." Those all put the finale into better context.

She missed too many episodes

Side Note: STUPID ASS GHOST EPISODE :mindblown:

But her interactions with the main cast was incredible

Even though he went from old Barney, to I got a random chick pregnant, to I want nothing to do with this kid, to this kid is my entire life in about 5 minutes.....him telling his daughter that line he used earlier on that chick in the bar was :wow:

I just got it...

Monday night's episode was actually pretty good, but am I the only one who feels the Ted's interactions with the mother in these flash forwards are really disingenuous?

Most of them don't have any context. and they're way too saccharine. It feels like the writers are trying to hammer the point in our head, "Okay, this is the mother. Ted loves her, which is why he has to keep saying it in every scene they're in together. She's totally not a consolation prize for not getting Robin."

That was the point. They were intentionally saccharine because Ted was trying convince his kids that their mother wasn't just the consolation prize, so he over-romanticized their moments together. :ohhh:

It was obvious they were trolling us the entire time now. I feel like such a fool. Who is future Ted? Bob Saget. The man who's entire show was based on having lost the mother of his kids! I tell you instead of the boy and girl if it were two girls listening to his story then it would've been more obvious. Barney was Joey, the single guy who liked to make everyone laugh. And Marshall and Lily were Jesse and Rebecca who branched off to start their own family. Bob Saget being in a show where his wife lives, should've seen that one coming from the start. :comeon:

I think we can all agree that season 9 was one of the most pointless seasons in TV history. But I'm not going to take away anything from the finale because of that. And I for one enjoyed the closure that all of the characters received. Maybe it's the nostalgia speaking, but I enjoyed it like I used to enjoy HIMYM from seasons 1-7.

They didn't even want to do a season 9 which is the funny part. CBS didn't want to give up a proven ratings getter so they added a season 9. Part of me wishes Segel held out and didn't sign the contract.

They spent this past season showing us how great the mother was and tried to put her on equal level with the main cast and then in one fell swoop, made her pointless. Even the kids were like "She's gone, fukk her:yeshrug:"

Pretty much the mom was just a means of keeping him in NY with his friends, and providing him with children and something to do while Robin was on her Katie Couric steez. She was literally a stopgap prop in the true love story of Ted and Robin and her kids were all for it. :dead: :heh: shyt was one big love letter to Robin. The show was basically an emotionally damaged, commitment phobic chicks dream. No matter what may come...marriages, kids, decades that simp will always be there waiting wtih the blue horn. :wow:.

I think it was a creative twist but 9 years was way to long to just have him end up with Robin anyway. Obviously that was the plan from the jump as they filmed that scene all the way back then but clearly they weren't planning on going 9 seasons. All the twists and turns and almost getting back together and "okay I'm over her" and "okay no I'm not :sadbron:" really took away from the whole purpose (or at least what we thought was the whole purpose).
