He considered a great black philosopher.

He wasnt pro black like garvey was he was more of a boule liberal democrat.

He started the naacp which was a important civil right organization for many years.

He wrote great books and was a pioneer in activism.

What was ur take on him
I gotta look it up but I think a white Jew started the the naacp

W E. B Dubois is a polarizing figure. He was a pioneer but at the same time he was Boule/ a protector for white interest which keeps guys like him paid. I kinda felt his "Talented Tenth" mantra.

When I win I bring we with me
Any conversation on dubois that tries to relegate him to a 5-10 year period is kinda pointless:francis:
  • Talk about CIA and garvey all you want but Dubois was instrumental in the pan African congress movement that lead to "political" decolonization in Africa
  • While his "talented tenth" notion eventually gave way to his ideas on the “Guiding Hundredth”
Point being, his positions swinged wildly throughout his 95 years life. You don't pin Malcolm X to “Detroit Red” then act like nothing else happened after that.

SIDENOTE:
Stop with all the Dubois vs Washington nonsense. shyt is old bruh. Both approaches were needed.
One person focused on material economic needs while the other focused on ideological political needs.

To paraphrase John Henry Clarke

Funny you should mention him. I'm using his theoretical framework on double consciousness to do a qualitative study on young black male students to investigate whether they feel their educational experiences have been culturally responsive or not.
