ICDC closed down three years ago I believe. But a lot of people attacked Romeo because he was telling people to go to ICDC while he was going to USC (California). ICDC while shady was actually better than other for profit scams.

:mjlol: Btw this is the perfect time to promote that infamous commercial

Wait, he caught backlash apologized for attending USC while promoting a for profit school?
Wasn't he a basketball recruit there on scholarship? and wasn't his father at one point one of the biggest entertainment moguls?

His circumstances were different from 99% of kids in this country, and definitely different than the target audience for ICDC ads.

Hundreds of Pennsylvania students of the now-bankrupt ITT Technical Institute will see $5.3 million in debt relief as part of a national settlement, the state Attorney General’s Office said this week.

Attorney General Josh Shapiro said 570 Pennsylvania students stand to benefit when $5.3 million in their private loans is canceled as part of the multistate settlement.

The settlement provides $168 million for more than 18,000 students nationwide harmed by “abusive lending practices.”

A coalition of 44 states reached a settlement with Student CU Connect CUSO LLC, which was managing loans for ITT, which filed for bankruptcy in 2016.

“With the private student loan program that ITT and CUSO established, ITT Tech was able to take advantage of thousands of hardworking students who were simply trying to complete their education,” Shapiro said in a statement.

Pennsylvania has the second-highest student debt load in the United States — averaging $36,854 in debt per graduate.

@Scott Larock , I made the last post specifically because you said that you had a similar bad experience , and had signed on for a similar class action lawsuit. What is the current status of the suit and do you think this ITT ruling will impact your case?

I'm on a list with over 100,000 students signed up so far but we haven't heard a reply yet from the Department of Education. Besty Devos is a major for profit school backer and she was firmly against getting rid of FPC in Florida when it was going down. Another school around here Everest University was forced to shut down a few years back but the students still haven't had their loans cancelled yet.

We're still fighting this and this will probably not be resolved no time soon.

As for ITT impacting our case IDK to be honest Pennsylvania and Florida aren't different states wit different economies. Florida really relies on poor people to do certain things and the job wages kinda favor that, we have a large poverty class that's really in the best interest to keep poor.

Also I thin Mass.... also shut down a lot of college and refunded the students....

IT may be difficult for me since Keiser changed to a non profit a few years ago but I'm keeping hope.

Thanks for the update and for being candid about the situation. And good luck.
People who think that there is NO difference between Dem and Rep. are proven wrong times and time again when new adminstrations come and ROLL BACK provisions and laws of the previous president.
Trump/Devos surely rolled back some of the ways Obama tried to protect students from for-profit colleges.

You mentioned in the other thread about knowing a lot of Haitian kids who were affected also. In addition to being from poor environments like their neighbors, those kids have he addtional social handicaps of parents who don't speak the language, and aren't equipped to help them navigate the educational system.
All those kids down there know is that they don't want to break their backs working , like their parents. I'd bet money that those schools funneled money into ads targeting Haitian and Latino media to attract students who were even more vulnerable to the sales pitch.

And you mentioned Everest, I saw a recent video that mentioned them and their ads. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a Haitian Creole translated version of this guy.

sounds like chef school.

They were ripping off students? Is Jack Tripper gonna have to go down there and smack people?

heh @ Tripper. The corporations behind these degree mills are on some other mess. Debt farming, basically. Loan entities then feed the debts up the food chain, package, resell, the usual. Real estate in 2008 all over again.

Le Cordon Bleu Is Shutting Down All of Its U.S. Locations

Career Education Corporation, the for-profit company behind Le Cordon Bleu, originally hoped to sell off the culinary schools. Instead, the corporation has picked the cheaper option of simply shutting down the domestic campuses.

...

According to BuzzFeed, Le Cordon Bleu’s trade degrees “were threatened by the Obama administration’s gainful employment rule, which cuts off federal financial aid to schools where graduates borrow money at high rates to pay for school but earn little after graduation.”

"hey, bu-bu-but regulation is bad for free enterprise"

When you say it's gonna be 2008 again, you're right.

Obama administration promoted tuition free accredited community colleges, and tried to curtail the for-profit schools from gaming the system.
