It was kool when it came out, but just like Eminem himself it didn't age very well. I could care less about that flick nowadays. How high came out around the same time as 8 Mile, and How High was still, and always will be considered a classic.

beautifully done ... the directing and way they captured detroit's gloom and darkness was top notch to me

I like looking at it like, every seen is dark .. and usually has some sort of weird lighting ... almost like they were trying to say there is a light beyond all of that madness around them. Very strong point of view regardless of what character you look at ... you can almost pull for everybody in that environment ... you just want everybody to do good

This movie is definitely overrated, but it's something I wouldn't mind watching again. It introduced me to Mobb Deep and made people interested in the battle rap scene. So yeah, pretty good film.

"Lose Yourself" is still a classic.

this might be interdasting, thread might die tho :jbhmm:

Hmm... It'd be hard. :patrice: Because that battle, Em aired out everything that Papa Doc could've said about him and went for the neck. Once a rapper flips the script on you, especially a rapper of Em's caliber at the time, it's going to be difficult because now you have to think of something else. And you have to be creative about it as well. Otherwise, you'd just be beating a dead horse. That's why Papa Doc ended up choking, cause he knew he was fukked.

Then again, we kinda know from the jump that Em's character was always capable of winning the whole thing, it was just that his nerves wouldn't allow him to do it. So Em never really had any competition on his level, and that's why it was easy.:manny: Had a rapper come into the mix with the same level of skill as him and wanted to battle, that would've been really interesting to see.

ehh. it was only good for the battles.

there were a handful of better & more popular urban flicks in theaters that football season.

Booth would love it if the lead was black

movie was corny.

just like the corny ass 50 cent movie by the same director.

but i guess 50's movie needed a black lead too right? oh wait.....

It was fun to see battling and classic hip hop beats in a mainstream movie and I thought the actual battles were pretty cool.
