Im from the south but i loved it when everybody brought they own sound to table. I can be south bias, but i liked it when up north had a sound. redman, dmx, jay z, cassidy, just naming a few off the top. Now everybody sound like the south. I never understood why NY rappers dont fukk each other like that. Yall on the same island.

New York is a state , it's also the 5 boroughs that make up what Is thought of as new York city ( really its manhattan I guess but nonny don't know) and manhattan is a island the other boroughs are not on one island .

Lloyd' banks mixtapes carrying new York :obama::win:

I feel like every coast has some heat except the East right now. There is nobody coming out the East that's the equivalent to a Kendrick Lamar or a Big K.R.I.T.

All my most anticipated guys out the East are old n1ggas or guys who have had their time.

It's like them dudes forgot how to make hits and bangers.

Remember Black Rob's Whoa, DMX's Party Up, and M.O.P.'s Ante Up?

Who out the East is doing it like that right now?

French Montana? Fabolous? Banks? LMAO

Just be happy guys like Jay-z, Nas, and 50 still around.

:wtb: fab and banks are both dropping fire so why that lmao . Not to mention they've had hit songs and been out for almost 10 years . So they not new bucks

Joey Badass' 1999 mixtape and Nas' Life is Good are the most East Coast sounding joints I've heard this year. There's probably more but both got that vintage sound.

old heads need to move on. i dont blame them for making their bread but the last 5 years they were not cosigning or mentoring no NY artists.

you telling me with all of jay's clout that nikka couldn't have brought along one young nikka from BK or Queens or BX like Jaz O and others did for him? :smh: bytch ass nikka.

jay will throw ny a bone once or twice a year with a couple shows at the garden but that nikka out in europe at dance festivals 90% of the time.

nan one of these old nikkas from jay to busta to nas to fat joe to dmx to diddy to ruff ryders to wu or any of the old regime at def jam were trying to open lanes for young ny hip hop artists the past few years. the only one who is trying is cam.
:what:
Jay spent years putting nikkas on and they all blew it or cried about him not holding their hand. Been there, done that. Now he wishes to deal with guys who can handle business like grown men

There is not too many successful artists with a region based sound.
The only sound out is basically the "ignorant wack southern rapper" and none of those rappers are really successful today.

I mean Ross and Wayne sounds as much NY as Fabolous and he sounds as southern as them as well.

I think that the sounds are merging between NY and the South, but NY is kinda getting it's swag back a step at time, with guys like ASAP Rocky, Fab, 50, and Fat Joe.

How is NYC a coast? It's a city. If we talking about action regions
Meek, Wale, Wiz Khalifa, Action, Busta Rhymes, Lloyd Banks, French Montana, Jay-z, 50 Cent, Nicki Minaj, Fab, ASAP, Mac Miller, Nas..

West Coast
Game, Ab-soul, Kendrick, Schoolboy, Kreayshawn, Nippsey Hussle it's fairly unclear if any of them besides Kendrick will move any units, as far as music goes though TDE are killing it.

South
Childish Gambino, Ross, Jeezy, Yelawolf, Wayne, Krit, Bun B, Outkast, Killer Mike, Future, Waka Flocka, T.I., B.o.b., J. Cole, Jay Electronica, 2 Chainz, Ludacris and a some other sucker artists I never listened to but probably are poppin somewhere.

Midwest
Stalley, Eminem, Kanye, Common, Big Sean, Kid Cudi, Tech n9ne, MGK, Lupe Fiasco, Freddie Gibbs

Like I said before the only ones with a clear coastal identity are the ignorant southern trap rappers and they ain't really making too much noise.
I mean on certain songs you can hear where they're from even with cats like French Montana or on T.I's accent. etc. And equivalent to Kendrick or Krit would be Asap Rocky, Meek, Joe Buttons or Action.

I think dude is more focused on creating jobs in NY, giving NY good music and giving them a bunch of shows per year than signing someone who is wack just cause he's from NY. Like he did with Tru-life, Uncle Murder and those bums. I think that was the last straw, nowadays he signs great rappers instead.
