The only reason we have it good here is the military situation.
Geographically we have a huge advantage, but our willingness to reach out and touch a mf is maybe equally important.
Ground troops are less of a factor with satellites, guided missiles, and drones, but there still needs to be soldiers.
I just wonder how society works if every young person spends years in the army instead of starting a career or getting higher education.
Maybe let the people who choose college have a pass so they can develop those type skills. Perhaps force all the high school drop outs, criminals, and people with no marketable skills into the military. This type military would have to be primarily a training ground tho. The people forced into it come out with trade skills or other skills. More of a civil service army that's building infrastructure and doing community service here in the US.
Train everyone as soldiers, but maybe save the actual overseas combat for volunteers?
