Libraries are archaic...

Everything is online...The New Libraries should just be computer rooms...And somebody needs to transcribe older books into e-books, so we can totally get rid of olde style libraries...

My mom works at a Library so they're OK with me. But they offer a lot more now than just taking books out. They offer a shytload of community programs and seminars now. And a lot of people still use the computers, you would be surprised how many school aged children still don't have adequate internet access at home.

They're great, but they're not needed as much anymore...I can't remember the last timeI read actual books...I just mindlessly post on the coli and get my information from bossip and LSA
fixed
Dope, but will eventually be useless one day maybe

*waits for all books to be digitized and then all old people working there lose their jobs* :mjpls:

I like studying at them like 30% of the time I study :yeshrug:
I can't focus at home or in my room, but there's something about going to the library, where I don't go on websites I'd normally go on at home or look at my phone as much...
e-books are torture on the eyes in my opinion.... libraries are still very much relevant
This. But I usually scoop out some supplemental books in the library. There's tons of <blank> made easy or for dummies at my disposal. Sure I can download them on my computer but I'd rather just look at the hardbook for once in a while.

This. There's tons of people still fighting over computers at the library daily. And here I am with a powerful ass touch screen ultrabook(sony vaio duo) and two other tablets at home that I don't even touch....

:scusthov: at the few times I've seen people look at porn on desktop computers at the library, where they're only allowed 15 minutes a session.

You know what's coming next after "fast food" right? Soylent goop. Have fun drinking out of liquid vitamin fountains while Billionaires "lol" as they eat steaks and shrimp.

Either you learn the value of real, physical things or you'll get none. If someone promises you convenience, run the other way.

OP post reeks of upper class arrogance.

Forget about the poorer, low income children who don't have internet access brehs.

Not only that, there is an argument that, they could just have computers at the local library and people could just stare at the screen all day.

Bruh...not everyone has a large block of time to read a book in one fell swoop. Thus, if someone doesn't have internet access and doesn't have time to just sit in the library, they can read the book when they have time.

By the way, @ADevilYouKhow , what was your upbringing? No disrespect, truly interested.

A real physical book will always be better than digitized e-books.

Would you rather have an mp3 or a vinyl or CD?

I swear nikkaz are creating their own Matrix with this cloud network farce.

Breh, you sound really Luddite-ish right now.

Why is that...?

Libraries need more computers and less racks full of books nobody is reading...I am not saying get rid of libraries all together, I am saying they need to build innovative libraries, because the current ones are outdated...

They should change the name from libraries to learning centres, and revamp the whole system...

No.

People who claim books take up too much space are dense. We don't have a book storage problem. We humans are lazy and will rationalize being lazy. Just know the Wealthy know the benefits of real, physical things and they will take them from you, in order to hoard them.

Have fun with your mp3 files that you don't own, vitamin fountains, and Old Navy clothing.
