Old thread, but I’m going to respond…

Document everything, communicate via emails and make sure you save them.

Get you a notebook and start documenting your actions throughout each work day.

Avoid any situation where you are interacting alone with said micromanager.

Find you a few allies amongst your colleagues and possibly upper level management.

Everybody saying run, but if you ain’t the head boss or owner then you are likely answering to someone. If you are around long enough eventually you’ll encounter some micromanaging personalities.

Man ya'll, with that quitting mentality. fukk that shyt not gonna let someone run me off. Only leaving if I get a better job offer.

What if you quit and end up with another Narc/Micromanger?

That's why in a job interview when they ask you about a prior time you experienced conflict, you use a micromanager as an example and explain how results got even better when you WEREN'T micromanaged :sas2:

Got a point, but HR in general needs a complete overhaul.
Sometimes I feel people try to scare or harass you out of a job if they feel you might get promoted

I feel you breh. I just say I'm adaptable to any and all personality types. I feel like with a lot of jobs it's going to be some type of a$$hole on the team.

Oh yeah, it's a dirty game, but if you don't care about that promotion what else are they're going to use as leverage? :manny:
Yeah bruh I feel you it all depends. I'm open to a promotion but I ain't chasing it but that doesn't stop someone else from being insecure trying to micromanage .

Oh you on a plantation but I can tell the pay is nice based on your description of the problem. Solution is to use your take home pay after bills to fund a project you're passionate about because it will pay you handsomely.

What you are facing now is simply punishment for not betting on yourself fearlessly. Stack enough money to take a few months off and experiment on your own creations

Leave. You can't change how he manages but you can change your environment

I had a horrible micromanager supervisor. I was there a year and was lucky enough to move on. He made everyone miserable. Everyone was hesitant every morning to log into their Outlook because 8/10 times there's an email sent at 3am bytching about something. Why tf was he not sleep?

It's been almost 10 years and he's still there, ruining lives with multiple lawsuits filed on him

If you're wondering how he's still employed, first it's a federal agency but he's black, gay and has a disability. The trifecta of if you fire me I'll file my own lawsuit

:francis:
Ok, this literally made me LOL. :russ:

hold this rep, this much is true to me.. I feel like I'll never reach my full potential at a career/job as compared to betting on myself. With all the layoffs, have to be fearless one way or another.

I work with a bunch of micromanaging people that are not even in a managerial role. I kinda figure if I just keep my head down and do my job correctly the complaints they have won't have anything to do with me.

We got a section manager who comes down from his office and waits by the steps to see who takes longer than the allotted 10 min break/20 min lunch.

This is a union job too smh
