this the topic of one of my superiors on my team. he’s the head accountant for other accounting duties but isn’t responsible for reviewing my segment of accounting tasks that i do. he’s one of the supervisors but not the one i report to, he’s merely the top personnel arguably on our team as a whole
i noticed he micromanages me a lot as an entry level employee. ive overtaken my entire operations as the sole employee after dealing with high turnover and rushed training.
in the 4 months since ive started,
the senior accountant
manager
and replacement manager temp (just yesterday) all left on my side of operations.
but dude still acts like im supposed to be an expert. if i mistakenly try explain to something he probes about that i just learned about 3 minutes ago, he gets dissatisfied and starts questioning my competency, while disregarding all of what i stated above. this happened yesterday and as i caught him walking away, he looked up and started to roll his eyes.
if i mistakenly explain something to him or confuse him once, it completely erases all the overwhelming times i articulated myself extremely well
his demeanor is excused as stern and that he wants his employees to be better by others on the team who are genuinely cool but i can just tell that he doesn’t like me still.
as my recent departing temp manager began to transition and teach our procedures over to my new, laterally promoted boss, we had a meeting that he decided to mediate about this and while learning more deeply about what our work entailed, he interrupts to propose that i start to add all these random unnecessary checks to my current procedures for my new boss moving forward that no one who trained me or the temp was doing before.
ik this is tl:dr and a rough write but i was looking for some wisdom about being black in corporate and how to go about avoiding micromanaging bosses and how to deal with their constant probing. i can see the curtain being pulled from under me
