It was so tongue in cheek and they were clowning the ridiculousness of it the entire movie. Low key this movie was easily one of the best comedies of the past decade.

This movie is basically clowning every single person in the industry, from the directors, producers, actors agents and even the Pyrotech guys.

Downey's character was clowning actors like Daniel Day Lewis who get all "method" with their acting.
