I got what they were trying to do...bu this bullshyt about '' black ppl are offended by everything'' is stupid..lets not act like black face doesnt have a racist historical subtext...a movie like white girls being brought shows how little some of you know and your lack of historical perspective..

You have a point breh but the point I've made and the point others have made is that it wasn't done in this movie on some shucking and jiving shyt. It was specifically done to make a point. Whether you agree with that point or the way that point was made? We can debate that but Ben Stiller didn't seem to have racist intents

Oh I understand that and I get what his intentions were..Im just saying if someone was offended I would totally understand..I know about the history of black minstrels with the zip c00n and all that so I can see it from both angles...I cant say what his intentions were...as a black man I wasnt offended watching it at any point.. but if others were, I could see why...

I think most cats (black people anyway) can understand being offended but I truly do believe that the smart brothers around here are smart enough to get it. There's a reason it wasn't made a big deal of and why RDJ wasn't stoned and why this isn't some Song of the South shyt where Disney or Marvel is trying to sweep it under the rug so you can pretend it didn't happen while the golden boy makes them billions. This wasn't Soul Man :russ: this was done purely as satire. The entire movie was satire. Mostly of hollywood and the type of cats who inhabit it. Producers, agents, actors, directors, everyone. So to have an actor that method that he's willing to go through cosmetic surgery to be a black man because he's that "legit" and that serious about his craft? that's funny regardless to me because I know the type of cat they're making fun of. And I've got a friend who's trying to do the hollywood thing and he tells me all the damn time that he loses out roles to rappers :russ: so to have the only other black role in this movie be played by a rapper with no experience who's just trying to hock his merchandise and his brand? Even funnier but also sad. Nobody was left unscathed in this shyt and I'm all about that

:deadrose:That smile after he says that gets me every fukking time. I think RDJ just ad libbed that line, fukked up, was laughing at his mistake, and they kept it in.

I get where you're coming from, but at the same time there are a lot of black people that don't do their homework. They don't research the history, and don't put things in their proper context in order to understand. Honestly, a lot of black people don't understand satire. But they'll be quick to read a headline and get their rah rah social media activist on.

Still, they didn't see the movie. Actually they didn't see the trailers because the subject was addressed in them.

:yeshrug:I didn't like Tropic Thunder, but I wasn't offended so much by RDJ's role. I didn't think he was ridiculing or stereotyping Black people and the makeup was some c00n chicken getup or shoe polish which is the line for me. Now, that OTHER Black actor...

Here's a bit of history for you youngbloods. RDJ had an infamous racist ad lib in a movie called Heart and Souls http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107091/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_57 from the early 90s. He does a "jive talking" mammy impression that's supposed to be Alfre Woodard who of course behaves nothing like that. Kyra Sedwick is laughing her head off in the background during the scene. That movie is rarely on TV anymore I think because of that scene. Might be on YouTube or something I'm too lazy to look.
