as for the thread title, i dont know if its been mentioned yet, but one of the main reasons why the apollo faded was because of 106th & park.

i know most of us hate the show now, but in its prime, 106th & park was handing out mad deavors. str8 knockin alot of other shows out-the-box and down to semi-relevancy.

you can tell that when the show 1st aired, they actually counted the peoples' votes like they claimed, at least to an extent.

i also remember there used to be adults in the crowd, and mostly college students. now that chit is aimed towards middle schoolers who dont know their right from left when it comes to music.

lmao! you know they have the kids dace during the videos too? Its like they trying to pull off some kinda Soul Train/American Bandstand like bullsh1t. 106th & Park makes me feel old cause i dont know 9/10 of them artist's on there.

i didnt know that. ive probably watched that show less than 5 times within the past 5 years.

the worst part is, its one thing if they want to gear the show towards kids, but they be having the softest looking kids & teens up there man. i couldnt imagine myself watching this chit, even if i was in elementary school.

The hosts were prolly killing the ratings, I can't think who hosted after Monique left...

Yeah the show got soft after Steve Harvey left......it was the best IMO when Sinbad was hosting. After Steve left they started not going hard on the acts like they used to. I honestly used to watch primarily to watch people get booed and the clown come out and act a fool. Once i saw they were taking it easy on folks i stopped watching. Plus Monique wasnt funny.

ehh. 2 different demographics. i dont think i ever watched a full episode of SNL.

besides, the apollo had already started losing steam before it went to NBC. and the fact that NBC had it at a 1am timeslot or whatnot is a steam-killer as well.
