Old heads strike again

Admittedly, I didn't like WLR either when it came out. Then I realized the sound was just way ahead of it's time. We applaud Future and Thug for their melodies but that whole album was a master class on melodies.

rockstar made
Stop breathing
Vamp anthem
Punk Monk
Sky

If you seek out Carti for lyrical content you're missing the point. If you go back and listen to that album in proper context it's actually better than Die Lit imo
WLR is not ahead of it’s time, it’s trash

Die lit is amazing

It's close, they both have the same number of tracks I still play to this day. But to call one "amazing" and the other "trash" is a weirdo take. It'd make more sense if you just didn't like his music at all, but I don't know what the hell you hearing in Die Lit that's so much different than WLR

He’s an amazing live performer, his albums are jarring at first but grow on you over time
this is really it

I remember nikkas calling die lit trash when it first dropped now everyone agrees it was his best shyt

the problem with wlr was carti had a ton of great songs get leaked after die lit, everyone thought that's how wlr would sound and he took a hard left with it. I didn't like it for that reason but after checking his live performances I see the vision

That album sucked lol

I actually grew to like Die Lit for what it was. The beats were interesting and the whole thing was cohesive even if I don't like his rap style

I think I realized that Pierre was the only reason I really fukked with him at all

Like the first reply, he appeals to emo weirdo CACs. Apparently a weird gay guy dressed like a vampire with a whale's tail sticking out who makes baby noises is considered interesting or avant-garde....

His core fanbase loves that album
His "core" fanbase changed completely with that album. The Cash Carti "Broke Boi" fans might not exactly like the vibe/sound of WLR.

But he somehow tapped into something bigger with the zesty thug vampire aesthetic.

This, but to answer your question he got bigger because white boys hyped WLR to the moon. For some reason they fukk with his emo, gay vampire, rockstar energy. This is coming from somebody who was listening to Carti since Broke Boi and when he was fukking with them Awful cats, fwiw. I still be fukking with Die Lit tho.

I didn’t realize the extent of his popularity until I saw him at Coachella ‘19. He had the Sahara tent jam packed and knew how to work that type of crowd. He kept yelling “open that shyt up!!!:damn:” and created the biggest mosh pit I’ve ever seen.
