Madtv cooked his ass.

Yeah @bordeaux is right. They threw the whole "comedians are a tribe" shyt out the window to go at him about his style of comedy? That's just some hater shyt.

Also MadTv has never been funny. Ever. No successful alums. Closest is Will Sasso. Aries Spears is sour grapes.

Edit - Key and Peele joined MadTv in season 9 in 2003. I was watching Chappelle Show then *Shrug*

MadTv was never funny to me.

I went to look up alums, and saw Key and Peele. Okay two but I'd argue they owe more of their success to their comedy central show.

I don't know who Phil Lamarr is.

If you actually watched Madtv then you'd know who they were. I watched from beginning to the end. It was tough once the originals left then we had the new cats like key and peele but then they proved their worth.

Pretty much all their cast especially the originals stay on tv, sitcoms and movies.a lot of them do voice over work and plays/musicals.

Comedy Central didn't make key and peele they started working together and doing what they do on madtv then when madtv was over they pitched their offerings to comedy Central amongst other networks and that was the deal that worked for them, for everyone really.

Dane was okay in my book. I remember seeing one of his specials were he sold out MSG. Dude was huge.

I remember Patrice ONeal talking about this on Opie and Andy. He said Family Guy killed Dane Cook by pointing out his routine or shtick. He said that I believe in 2010.

Honestly Patrice ONeal has some great conversation material on YouTube when he was on O&A. Check it out.
Patrice & Dane came up together in Boston comedy. Patrice always gave him a co-sign as a good dude & said he didn't change up his comedy when he got famous, but he was always that animated, high energy act (which doesn't really mesh with the style Patrice & them did, but he'd give him a 'that's just Dane' and respected how he worked the early internet game to get on).

That's not my style of comedy, so I was never really into his routine but I always just respected him as a person b/c Patrice did and knew him better than most. Patrice didn't give props easily, so, if you got some, it was earned.

I didn't watch MadTv because I didn't find it funny. I wasn't going to stick around for season 9.

And work is work but none of those originals are in anything with any acclaim right now, not in any leading roles.

I became a fan of K&P from their Comedy Central show. I think most people did.

I don't know who Phil Lamarr is.

Bobby Lee has a pretty popular pod with Tigerbelly
Mo Collins, who is UNDERRATED af was on Fear The Walking dead
Ike Barenholtz was just in one of my favorite movies of the year (Unbearable weight of massive talent)
Alex Bornstien has The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and family guy
Phill Lamar is considered a legendary voice actor
Orlando Jones, probably low key the most successful and well rounded aside from K&P.

I remember when Dane Cook was at the VMAs during the height of his standup career. I think it may have been 2005 or 2006. They gave him like 10 minutes to do a set. He bombed so bad, they edited him off the replays. He was so super overrated as a stand up comedian. However, I did like him in movies. Employee of the month and Good Luck Chuck were both hilarious

That's all great stuff but if we're being objective, they're C-listers.

They're not being tapped to host the Emmy's or in a buddy cop movie with The Rock. They don't even have standup specials and they're supposed to be funny.

MadTV just never had that level of talent or starpower.

If you didn't find it funny it is what it is. I don't find Big Bang Theory or How I Met Your Mother or Friends funny but those shows lasted a while and the actors in it are doing just fine (as are the cast members from madtv with a few exceptions).

I happened to like Madtv from the jump. It was one of those wars like WWF vs WCW. Cats would watch MadTV and SNL and argue which episode of the week was more funny.

They're doing fine but they didn't move on to become the biggest standup in the world like Chris Rock in 1997.

They didn't move on to have box office runs like Eddie in the 80s or Jim Carrey in the 90s.

Natural jumps for great comedic talents. Makes sense.

For as successful as he's become Watching Peele on MadTv did you think to yourself Oscar winning horror director?

But she ain't in a buddy cop movie with The Rock though :manny:
Wolfenstein and Star Wars are great but they aren't comedic roles.

Someone thought she was so funny on MadTv they gave her Wolfenstein?

My original point : Madtv was never funny. Point still stands.
