my first pair was the 8s in 2nd grade. I remember getting crazy attention for wearing them, felt like a big shot. They will forever be my fav Js.

Mine too in 5th grade 92 /93 ....2 of my friends in school had em.

I remember I wore em to school they both hit me with the :obama:

Then one of them told me to loosen em up..i had them tied mad tight and strapped up :dead: He hooked em up for me... un-strapped them..fixed the laces...first nikka showed me how to really rock some kicks....

RIP my nikka Hustle Man :mjcry:

In 2020 money they were about 260$ and tax

only a few local places to buy them

I think mid to early 90s most jordans were 160$ in that time period, which is 282$ and tax in 2020

wild expensive
Bruh stop telling hood stories in the 90s Js were $120

Retros were still 160 in the 2000s. I got my first pair when I was in the 6th grade in 06.

This shyt was real where I am from. I am from Pittsburgh. Grew up in the burbs. Even in the burbs I knew of a breh who got jumped and his teeth knocked out over his 3's. Another bad spot to be caught flexing with your kicks was in the mall if you was dolo or with a small crew. Brehs from the hood used to visit the mall in the burbs in squads. Would corner you and ask the size of your kicks. :birdman: If you was smart you would give them up quick and leave the mall in your socks.

Before Footlockers and other shoe stores got hip my cousin used to steal J's. He would go inside the shoe store when it was crowded and when the opportunity arose he would just grab one from the wall.

He would do it smooth and leave without no one knowing. He would later have his brother go in about a hour later to see if the sales reps had put the mate to the shoe on the rack in the missing spot. Usually they did. He would then tell his brother and my cousin would go back in and take the other one. :youngsabo: Now he has a full set of J's. If they were not the size that he or his brother could wear then he would sell them.

I just wore beaters and asked to try on J’s. Put beaters back in the box and walked out. Key was to do it on a busy Saturday, Sunday
