There is no agenda. A black woman created a show that uplifts black women. You guys just think because black men aren't mentioned in the name that it's against them.

I gotta lightweight agree with this. And I usually don't agree with u @Juicy :comeon:. But yeah, just because the show "black girls rock" exists, it doesn't mean that its against black
men.

Yeah, Im not going to deny that.. you're right. but it seems like a good percentage of black men have adopted white peoples hate towards black womens natural hair and they themselves are finding it unattractive and hating on their own for it.

but at the same time, i don't know maybe thats an affect of living in a pro-white world. i wouldn't know what kind of psychological affects that can have on someone. it was more of an observation, like i said.

and stop calling me white Nubian queen, thanks

Black men hate natural hair? Since when? I wish that black women would stop projecting their insecurities onto black men.

Sound Reasoning
:ehh:

I see this from both sides.

The fact is, shows like Black Girls Rock are good in one sense because they , hopefully, try to instill a sense of pride in black women. Also, it sounds like it developed from an actual community-based program tailored for black women. That's to the good.

But it also denotes something that is too common in the black community...the focus on the issues and upliftment of black women as if black women have this burden to carry that is somehow different and/or bigger than black men. I can't help but get this sense that there is separation in the mind of more than a few black women that they somehow feel the need to separate their issues from those of their male counterparts.

The reality is, black men and black women have this thing where we fight for our side of the gender more than we fight for the greater community. So, black men need the spotlight on them and black women need the spotlight on them. The utter futility of this way of thinking is that we are not in the position we are because we are black men or black women. We are in our struggle together because we are both black. Until black men and black women realize that we are tied at the hip, whether we like it or not, we will keep going in meaningless circles.

But as far as the show itself, I say "let them eat cake."

Peace

Meh, its just a show that beats the same drum. Nobody will remember it anyway.

It does point out one thing.....black women seem to struggle with any form of uplifting unless it involves segregation and conducting an upbeat pity party. If you think you "rock" than don't say it, be it. When you start making up phrases and showing the grainy video stories I begin to wonder if your trying to convince yourself more than actually just show it.

Just my take, take it with a grain of salt if you must.

It's strange tho... It's an award show for BLACK women, but there's only 8 or 9 of them in the show :wtf:

All i see is mixed women and white women.

Okay so instead of talking about how you can uplift your sons in the same manner, you want to defame this organization that provides scholars and camp programs to young girls, and some how that helps to fight the white man?
no offense, but did you see a picture of the audience? Its largely white.

The audience was almost entirely black women and with little black girls sitting in the front rows, other than that there were also a few black men
