Wayne at his peak of what y'all claim to be lyrical wasn't doing nothing but spitting gillie da kid and jae millz punchlines, his songs were all shock no content. dude literally went from a c- student to b+ poser with the aid of his writers, soon as they bounced he went right back to praying he passed the class. That said, I will give him his props on dominating radio, the streets, and the clubs, selling crazy albums, and influencing even white kids/skate culture. He had shyt on lock 04-10/11, that's a very good run.

Sadly, Wayne always saved his deep tracks for B-sides on the album.
It's wild to think his hottest period was a decade ago, I still remember arguing about Wayne's Show Me What You Got & Upgrade U freestyles being wayyyy better than Hov's.
I still remember stealing Carter 3 out of Target the last day of school :russ:
But it's crazy he really influenced the next generation of rappers with his style, attitude and the worst music of his career :francis: . He's undeniably a legend but probably only to my generation.

I put this in throwback sets at house parties and shyt be getting rapped word for word tho :blessed:

Nas, Big, Pac, Jay-Z

:yeshrug:

That's a whole different era of rap.

If we had to add a modern rappers for this era, It would be Kanye, Wayne, and Gucci (in that order).

Tho IMO Gucci has been way more influential than Wayne.

All these unorthodox rapping face tatted pill poppin weirdo nikkas is a direct product of post carter II lil Wayne

He made all that shyt mainstream and "cool" to publicly acknowledge

Only reason why the 30 and up crowd give Wayne a hard time is cause he is from the south

Wayne from the south..you know how that go :beli:

why is there a bias against southern rappers

His day coming tho...He put in so much work mid 2000s, give it time...the next generation will speak on him like one of the heavyweights..they low key do already and the influence is clear as shyt for better or worse

Wayne wont really pe appreciated until he dies:yeshrug:

C5 had to be great. He can't keep spitting nonsense. I'm 28 and the biggest wayne fan but he didn't grow musically enough. He raps about early 20s shyt.

I feel like he can do it, Wayne is much better now than he was from 2011-2014 and it feels like he is slowly improving

Wayne is 33 years old and house been mainstream since the 90's

At 33 HOV had dropped the black album and was looked at as elite amongst his peers and already was a legend.

At 33 nas dropped hiphop was dead, he was also hiphop royalty and a legend amongst his peers.

Wayne has had just as much commercial success for about the same amount of time as them, so how come he doesn't he doesn't have that elite, legend, hiphop royalty aura around him like nas and HOV?
How come fagots like you don't get hit by a bread truck? :mjlol:

Not cause of that. I LOVE 90s and early 2000s Southern Hip Hop. Lil Wayne is just wack to me. That hating the south angle is growing tired IMO
This..Lil Wayne is the one kid rapper from the 90s that I didn't fukk with it at all..dude was hype man status from jump for me

Wayne's the same age (give or take) as the current top tier rappers. He's not exactly relevant like they are and his 15 minutes are up.

Wayne doesn't and will never get that Jay-Nas respect because he doesn't deserve it. His music/skills aren't of the same quality and he's associated with a lot of ignorance. Even his own fans don't respect like that and that's evident by how fast he fell off. That young thug thing was an indication too. The way he came at Wayne should've been career suicide.

Look at him in his current state? Carter 2 was his peak. EVERYGHING after has been downhill. nikka mumbling on tracks, spitting uninspired verses about eating p*ssy.

He just became a leaned out junky and sounds and looks rediculous half the time. You never seen jay or Nas like this. This is why DMX (who was hotter than j at one point) is a bozo now.

The new generation gives Wayne his props. Prolly the most out of all the older statesmen.

Only reason why the 30 and up crowd give Wayne a hard time is cause he is from the south, and his style of rap was very unorthodox at the time.

I say it all the time, if Wayne was from Brooklyn or something, just off his career alone, you motherfukkas would have him over BIGGIE n all these other East Coast legends like Slick Rick, Krs, etc.

Im under 30 and from the south and aint no way in Hell is wayne to be compared 2 big ever
