How didn't it have mainstream appeal? The nikka was a multiplatinum artist? Da hell is wrong wit y'all? Lol
He was a multi platinum artist but most of his fans were black people. Nobody said he was a flop but he wasnt MAINSTREAM like Usher was.

Usher has an overall bigger fanbase because his music also has pop influences. He got them cac fans too.

Gins music was too hood..

He didn't write "most" of Ginuwine's shyt. He wrote some of it. Ginuwine said out his own mouth that what a lot of people don't know about him is that he wrote a lot of his own hits and music.
Lmao nah. Ginuwine started taking credit for statics work. Thats one of the reasons Tim & them stopped fukkin with him.

Nope. Tim stopped fukkin wit him before he even revealed that. Tim got mad that he wanted to go a different direction for his album and didn't want ALL Timbaland production. He only wanted like 3 or 4 Timbaland produced tracks. Tim wasn't feelin that shyt and flat out didn't answer his calls.

Gin went 2x plat while Usher went Diamond.

All of Ushers songs had more pop radio appeal than ginuwines. Usher's last two albums had dance pop shyt on it. He caters to cacs & blacks while Gin caters to one
U make me wanna? My way? Nice and Slow? That's what blew Usher up. And none of that shyt was catered towards white people. He just was younger and catered to a younger audience.

But You missin the point brah. Usher was working with Jermaine Dupri at the time and he was one of the heaviest producers in the game at the time. His sound was everywhere and was the "trend" on radio.

During that time Timbaland was virtually nobody and his sound wasnt that mainstream for mainstream listeners yet. He brought a whole new style to r & b at that point. Him & Aaliyah were the first big artists to fukk with him heavy

U missed my edit. Ironically Jermaine Dupri was a biter and biting some of Tim's shyt but the main factor was Usher being younger and catering to a younger audience. Ginuwine was pretty big considering his target audience and his image. If he didn't get hooked on drugs and have issues wit Tim he woulda been good. shyt he was still making hits after he stopped messing wit Tim. Such as "Stingy". "In Those Jeans" and "I'm In Love" we do a greatest hits I'm pickin Ginuwine's music every time without a second thought in my head.

I bought ginuwine's first 2 albums during their initial runs. Ginuwine was a star, but he never reached usher's level for multiple reasons.
1. As many have already said,he was older and marketed that way.

2. We can't blame it on age solely cause kell's was also a grown man but he made waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better music than ginuwine.
Basically ginuwine did as good as his singles allowed him too.
I'm a big fan but his huge records are far and few between so he couldnt remain where PONY took him.
He only has one song on that PONY level, pony itself. Has a bunch of other songs i love but none on that level.
