I’ve lived in DC for most of my life so I’m pretty much used to hearing how people talk here which is why I barely notice any accents.
Ahhh now I understand

Just like the movie, “In Too Deep”, a movie taking place in the Midwest but 90% of the cast was NYCA few of them like d'angelo , prop joe and snoop from there, slim charles from dc everybody else from nyc
Last time I checked, Philly is on the northern part of the East Coast
Philly accent is country? I never picked that flavor up from it at all lol
Hold up, you mean every southerner doesn’t sound like this??

THISThis. You can tell who actually knows New York/Yorkers and who learned about New York from hip hop / social media
Y’all dudes are influenced by too much hip hop. New York has different accents for different ethnicities. Black, Italian, and Spanish people all have different sounding NEW YORK accents. Also, if you listen closely you can hear the different accents throughout the 5 boroughs. For instance, I can tell off top if I’m speaking to a Uptown or Bronx person, especially females. The same with Queens dudes. Listen to Jay-Z’s accent and then listen to Nas or Raekwon’s, all different.
I’m from BK and I can hear the NY accent from some people, but not the overall majority.
Murrlin (Maryland)I lived in DC, don’t know what accent you’re all hearing there
