How can you justify saying Messi is better than Ronaldo?

Messi scores the exact same amount though, so he's doing the forwards job in addition to the attacking midfielder's job.

Who is the better passer?
Who is the better finisher?
Who scores more outside the box?
Who creates more chances?
Who scores more free kicks?
Goals are meaningless without context. You cannot compare goals against Levante with goals against Bayern or Juventus in Champions League Knock out Stages. You cannot do 1 for 1. Ronaldo when he started his goal scoring run in late 06-07, he was lambasted for scoring against minnows not against the bigger European clubs. Well in 2019, Ronaldo has 23 more goals in UCL knockout stages than Messi. His goals, especially lately has come in massive fixtures, which numbers would never elaborate properly.

Messi is the better passer because he’s a number 10. Number 7 shouldn’t be judged on passing when comparing to a number 10. Heck, Modric, Pogba, Ozil, De Bruyne, Silva are all better passers than Ronaldo, as Ronaldo’s job isn’t to pass.

Finisher it is even, and slightly favours Ronaldo IMO, please don’t use conversion rates if you don’t take into distance, type of shot attempt and scoring with your head is 10x harder than your feet.

Who scores more outside the box? I don’t know. You have evidence who scores more outside the box? I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Messi as he can score just outside the box efficiently but long distance range it isn’t even a debate here; its Ronaldo

A number 10 will also create more chances than a number 7, simply because of position and the ball going through them more. Messi’s team is heavily possession based whilst also being number 10 that question automatically becomes redundant.

I think Ronaldo has scored more free kicks no? As it stands in 2019???

Messi is better just because of his ability to play deeper, the wing and up front. He's also a much better playmaker, dribbler and can score and finish just as well. If you needed ONE for a season, you couldn't go wrong choosing either but Messi does slightly edge Ronaldo as an all time GOAT.

Fun to debate but we should really enjoy the golden era of football we are witnessing. We probably won't see two players dominating at a level like this for decades and decades to come. Mbappe is good but nowhere near even close and I doubt he'll reach the level of dominance Messi and Ronaldo have.

And Messi is gonna carry this Barca team to another title.

What's your point.

And Cristiano didn't carry anything. He scored goals any striker should score. Those goals were put on a plate for him.
Lol la liga titles. Ronaldo led team to EPL, la liga, and now Seria A title along with leading 2 diffeeent teams to champions league and possibly a third

Stay in the topic of LeBron and his sinking Lakers. CR7 led 2 La Liga in 9 years, joined MU at their best time, then move to Juventus that winning consecutive domestic doubles. Are you trying to act like he joined a mid-table team. :russ:

Both are Great Players with different style of play

Ronaldo dominated La Liga, Premier League and now Serie A
Look how Real is doing today :mjlol:

Messi always played for and with a team thats build around him

Look how much of a GOAT Messi is when it comes to playing with a team other than Barca:Mjgrin:
Lionel Messi says he is quitting Argentina national team

In the same year Ronaldo carried Portugal to the European Championship
Portugal doesn't even have players like Di Maria, Aguero, Dybala

Messi a bytch outside of Barca:leonardman:
Without Messi, Argentina played eight matches in qualifying. They won one. They scored 0.75 goals per game. They lost to Ecuador, Paraguay and Bolivia. They drew with Venezuela. Tata Martino was sacked and so was his successor, Edgardo Bauza.

With Messi, Argentina played ten matches and only lost one (to Brazil in Belo Horizonte). They beat Chile twice, Uruguay and trounced Colombia 3-0 in San Juan. In 10 games, Messi scored seven goals (including the all-important hat-trick against Ecuador to secure Argentina’s World Cup place). How important were Messi’s goals? For comparison’s sake, Argentina’s strike force of Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Aguero, Mauro Icardi, Dario Benedetto, Lucas Pratto and Lucas Alario combined for three goals over the two-year cycle.

Messi has been much better this season. He led La Liga in every important stat last season, including goals, assists, chances created etc. and is poised to do it again this season. Also he's scored more free kicks in the last few years than almost every top team (including Real Madrid).

Real won the league twice in nine years with Ronaldo and the greatest squad ever assembled, and they got knocked out of the Copa del Rey almost every year by scrubs like Leganes. In fact the only year they won it, Ronaldo didn't play in the final.

What made those stats remarkable, both CR7 and Modric played t La Liga. He out performed the best Striker and Midfielder that season. People shytting on Copa Del Rey and yet Real Madrid used their best 11 every time. It's a shyt trophy until you win it. Both players are great at what they do, but someone is all around better.

:umad: he’s accomplished more than Messi both domestically and internationally as much as you wanna deny it. Give Ronaldo Messi Argentina team and he has multiple cops America titles and at least 1 World Cup.
