Goals are meaningless without context. You cannot compare goals against Levante with goals against Bayern or Juventus in Champions League Knock out Stages. You cannot do 1 for 1. Ronaldo when he started his goal scoring run in late 06-07, he was lambasted for scoring against minnows not against the bigger European clubs. Well in 2019, Ronaldo has 23 more goals in UCL knockout stages than Messi. His goals, especially lately has come in massive fixtures, which numbers would never elaborate properly.Messi scores the exact same amount though, so he's doing the forwards job in addition to the attacking midfielder's job.
Who is the better passer?
Who is the better finisher?
Who scores more outside the box?
Who creates more chances?
Who scores more free kicks?
Messi is the better passer because he’s a number 10. Number 7 shouldn’t be judged on passing when comparing to a number 10. Heck, Modric, Pogba, Ozil, De Bruyne, Silva are all better passers than Ronaldo, as Ronaldo’s job isn’t to pass.
Finisher it is even, and slightly favours Ronaldo IMO, please don’t use conversion rates if you don’t take into distance, type of shot attempt and scoring with your head is 10x harder than your feet.
Who scores more outside the box? I don’t know. You have evidence who scores more outside the box? I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Messi as he can score just outside the box efficiently but long distance range it isn’t even a debate here; its Ronaldo
A number 10 will also create more chances than a number 7, simply because of position and the ball going through them more. Messi’s team is heavily possession based whilst also being number 10 that question automatically becomes redundant.
I think Ronaldo has scored more free kicks no? As it stands in 2019???
