How can you justify saying Messi is better than Ronaldo?

Ronaldo dominated La Liga, Premier League and now Serie A
Look how Real is doing today :mjlol:

Messi always played for and with a team thats build around him

Look how much of a GOAT Messi is when it comes to playing with a team other than Barca:Mjgrin:
Lionel Messi says he is quitting Argentina national team

In the same year Ronaldo carried Portugal to the European Championship
Portugal doesn't even have players like Di Maria, Aguero, Dybala

Messi a bytch outside of Barca:leonardman:

People are prisoners of the moment. A lot of people were declaring LeBron the GOAT after last year's run, now look at how he's getting perceived. Messi been getting GOAT talks since way before he even deserved them.

I've always seen Messi as the better player and probably will even after they retire but Ronaldo has been closing the gap the past couple of years and it won't surprise me if he retires after Messi despite being older; he's LeBron-esque as far as staying healthy

Messi/Ronaldo is Magic/Bird on steroids imo, it's crazy to think that one guy could have like 9 ballon d'ors if it weren't for the other guy. Might legitimately be watching the best and 2nd best soccer player ever right now

They do different things on the pitch.

Messi is a better player. Ronaldo has been a poacher the last 5 years. All time great poacher and finisher but that’s all he does now. Messi does a lot more for the team.

CDot is a better goal scorer but it’s not like Messi is Aleksander Hleb. The two are close in goals and CDot only passed Messi because he became a poacher.

Messi has been much better this season. He led La Liga in every important stat last season, including goals, assists, chances created etc. and is poised to do it again this season. Also he's scored more free kicks in the last few years than almost every top team (including Real Madrid).

Real won the league twice in nine years with Ronaldo and the greatest squad ever assembled, and they got knocked out of the Copa del Rey almost every year by scrubs like Leganes. In fact the only year they won it, Ronaldo didn't play in the final.

You can’t. Those days are over. He shut up that debate last year. This year is the icing on the cake; and if he wins it with Juventus he is outright the GOAT.

He has won 5 UCL titles whilst being easily the best/most important player on the team; Messi has only won 3, he didn’t play in the 2006 Final which shouldn’t count and wasn’t the most important player in 2009; that was Xavi or Inesita. 2011 and 2015 Messi was the best/most important player. He (Ronaldo) has played back to back UCL finals three times. Messi has never played back to back UCL finals nor has he defended Barcelona’s UCL titles once, while Ronaldo done it twice.

Ronaldo has proved his worth in 3 different leagues. He has an unbelievable record in the UCL, especially big games, scoring outrageous and all types of goals. Seriously, Ronaldo dominating the EPL aged 21/22 and winning the Ballon Dor is criminally underrated aspect; when you had the best Chelsea and Liverpool squad to date when EPL teams were dominating Europe.

Messi’s game is definitely more aesthetic, and softer on the eye and enjoyed more by the purist but Ronaldo’s game is the complete package especially for a forward. There is no need to take numerous touches, hold possession and physically fatigue yourself out when a football match is decided in just a few key moments. Ferguson taught his boy well.

From a skinny ball hog from Portugal to the most complete ruthless footballer we have ever witnessed.

There was hatred in that penalty

the real hiphop.
Ehh... Messi is still considered the best player of his era by pundits, players and fans. He’s the one compared with the GOATs Maradona and Pelé while CR is compared with... Messi.

This is a god damn lie. By nature a number 10 is “going to do more” for the team, simply because of positioning, the ball goes through a number 10 a great deal more than a number 7 but it doesn’t mean he’s doing more. Just like in basketball a PG sees more of the ball than the SF, doesn’t mean he’s doing more. What you need is efficiency and being effective in key moments. The average football score is 1-0, one moment decides the game. So doing more is meaningless, doing what necessary is more important.

Messi scores the exact same amount though, so he's doing the forwards job in addition to the attacking midfielder's job.

Who is the better passer?
Who is the better finisher?
Who scores more outside the box?
Who creates more chances?
Who scores more free kicks?

Where is the lie? And more than anything, what more does CDot do than Messi?

Also, CDot has not played as a winger or #7 since 2007.

Also, do you understand sports? Your basketball analogy makes no sense to someone who plays and watches basketball.
