Nope......The erasing of our native culture was a heinous crime against humanity and its on par with all of the physical torture that occurred during chattel slavery...At least in my opinion
I was looking at the bonds within the other communities mentioned in this thread(comparatively), and culture seems to be the defining characteristic.

They aren't Armenian American, they are Armenian, they arent Asian American, they are Asian etc. and within their culture most fall on either the white or black side(act white/act back). Blacks are essentially just Americans... no?

Politically? I would say no....In essence? Yes

Brother I'm not making baseless generalizations. I'm trying to paint the overall picture of black america. I'm not saying any of that stuff applies to every black person.

:mjpls: Read the bolded :mjpls:
Then read the post below.

Black owned barbershop. Funny how the only thing blacks own in this country is barbershops. We don't even own the beauty supply stores that black women get their hair products from. That market caters to black people and black people alone. No one else in the world can use those products except black people. And yet their owned by koreans and arabs. What a joke.

Dem Contradictions Doe !!!!!

404 error contradiction not found

You said you weren't making baseless generalizations, then you went on
to make a baseless generalization.
One which was shot down rather quickly I might add.
@bigDeeOT

As for the current topic at hand..
I think there is a Black/African American Culture.

The reality is that a lot black parents are dropping the ball.

At lower socio-economical levels, the homes are either broken or little to no emphasis is placed on education . In the hoods, so many of those children are doomed from the start.... they have little to no chance of success because of the dysfunction. Intellectualism and graduation rates will ascend at an astronomical rate when you figure out how to convince the people in the ghettos, especially the males, that there's another way than rob, steal, kill and sell drugs to make money and/or get out of the hood. The excessive materialism is a hindrance to progress as well. In this day in age, everyone should be technologically savvy, but honestly, do black people need the latest & greatest TV/Blu-Ray player/Nintendo/X-Box/PlayStation in every room in the house along with a desktop/laptop/tablet/portable media player/cell phone too? Armed robbery and murder over 10.00 made in China Jordans that are marked up at 1500-2000%? Video games and sports need to be de-emphasized a little bit and more focus on studies. If you know how to work a video game controller or computer then you should be able to know in & out how to operate a calculator.

What I would like to see is...

Parents investing in summer tutoring or even year-round schooling at every socio-economical level. I'm sure there are already programs in existence, especially the summer tutoring programs, but no one is really utilizing them. No sense in having them if they aren't being used.

For those that can get into their local program, most school systems that have a vocational school allows HS students to pick up a trade(or a few) FREE of charge provided you're still in school. Everyone that can should pick up a trade as a concrete plan B or C just in case plan A fails. By the time you leave HS, you could have academic and athletic scholarships lined up along with a skill that you could start your own business with or work for someone else. Great to have options.

With everything I listed, the average black child would be well prepared for academic and economic success.
