Him and Stone Cold was carrying their brands. That's what made the Monday night wars so good. What killed WCW was they was having way too many fillers while WWF was giving you good segments with their low card wrestlers.

No more 96 and 97 Savio Vega matches boring matches with other wrestlers like Stone Cold. It was pure entertainment in 98 and Stone Cold lead the way.

I was glued to the TV like everyone else. School on Tuesday was amazing

He was so big that my sister asked for a Stone Cold shirt one Christmas and our Aunt got her a Goldberg shirt.... needless to say my sister never wore it.

Surprised so many of yall viewed him as big as Austin. I never did.

Although one day I took an eible and watched his match vs Hall the night he beat Hogan, and it's like I finally got it. Dude was built like a tank and was a badass.

I think what holds his back for me is him never speaking during his peak

It's due to how he was presented. Wrestlers were once guys that you looked at and said he can kick your ass. Goldberg embodied that. As a kid, you don't care about work rate or speaking ability.

He was bigger than Austin around the time he beat Hogan, no way Raw fills an NFL stadium in mid 98. Horrendous booking as champ put him behind Austin by the time December came

He was booked so bad as champion. He was arguably the most over babyface in the bizness after he beat Hogan on Nitro and he was in the midcard as world champion :russ:

Goldberg ONLY main evented ONE PPV as World Champion prior to losing to Nash. :mindblown:

The undefeated world champ being in the battle royal while Jay Leno was in the main should’ve gotten Bischoff shot

From 97-01 you couldn’t find anyone that wasn’t talking about Raw the day after. It was truly ingrained in people back then. Didn’t feel like you’d get second hand embarrassment talking about it publicly like you would now :russ:

The Warrior comparison is a pretty good one. Both were booked very similar, neither were great talkers or good in the ring Everything about them was their look, aura, and entrance. Meteoric rise but burned out just as quick. The only difference is that Goldberg kind of burned out because of bad booking while with Warrior it was a combination of not clicking as the top guy like he did during his rise and being an a$$hole behind the scenes. The way they burned out is why people still want to see the occasional Goldberg run still, while the warriors return runs kind of landed with a thud. That said, I would say for a short time he was just a big as Austin maybe for an even shorter time you could say he was bigger than Austin, he just didn't have the staying power of ability to reinvent himself life Austin did. Goldberg is a hall of Fame figure in the industry but Austin is a Mount Rushmore figure.

He was over and was mainstream
Example
He had a national little Caesar’s commercial and they had a promotion where they gave free Goldberg posters
There’s not a wrestler today who’s got that type of exposure
For Little Caesars :heh:? Im sure they would do it for WWE superstars

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!

I remember when Dennis Miller had a show on HBO and Goldberg was a guest on it. I think it was 98 or 99. Anyway, a lady in her 40's/50's called in, was talking to Bill, and she started making references to his move set/catchphrases and everyone, including Goldberg, realized that she was talking about "the other bald-headed guy" (Stone Cold.) She thought she was talking to Austin. Bill looked so pissed off and dejected. :dead:
