Fangraphs say the cubs have the deepest farm in mlb , not a lot of top tier prospects(yet)but several really good ones.

Look at Nelson Velasquez 11 hr’s .933 ops for the royals since the tdl & he couldn’t get no tick on the cubs(traded for an inconsistent relief pitcher)Canario I feel is similar , they gonna have to consolidate some of these cats

I think the Cubs have been really solid this year on offense.

I like Justin Steele, but I'm not convinced he's really THIS good. I think his walk rate creeps back up a little and he's more like a very good #2 or #3 than a true ace.

I'm just not sure there's any ace that will be on the market any time soon, so I think the Cubs have to figure out how to fill out the rotation.
It'll be interesting to see what they do.

Guys like Tyler Mahle and Frankie Montas are somewhat high risk, high reward, though neither has the potential to be elite.
Luis Severino would also be a project.

Aaron Nola and Blake Snell are the most solid options available on the market. But neither looks like they're going to be worth a big contract.

I agree Steele isn’t an ace more a #2(especially after that start vs the d backs last week).Cade Horton(‘22 1st rounder) is considered a top 3 pitching prospect and has dominated low/high a & double aa in his 1st season in the minors.he’s a potential tor 1/2 that will most likely make his debut next season.Don’t want nola, snell is injury prone but if they could get him on a decent contract I’d take him. The cubs have legit pitching prospects for the 1st time since the wood, prior & zambrano days they don’t have to spend on starting pitching they need a power bat

I'll always have the opinion that you should trade prospects for proven players. I know you hate them but look what Atlanta did to get Olson and Murphy. Gave up Contreras and Pache.
