I know this comes across as cope from a Mets fan but you can't tell me the Padres haven't had an equally disappointing season. They bought ( a little lol) at the deadline and almost have the same record as the Mets lol.

I'd have them as a bigger disappointment than the Mets honestly. They were in the NLCS last year.

I'm gonna need to make time for this entire series.

Apple needs to negotiate some type of flex scheduling in the future. No reason they shouldn't have Dodgers/Braves tomorrow night.

You could easily see the possible flaws in the Mets going into the season even if a lot of the lineup underwhelmed. You had the Diaz injury, two 40 year old pitchers, another 36 year old one, a different starter getting hurt in spring training. Marte also had double groin surgery after last season and we knew this going into the season.

I don't know if the Padres had any real issues at the start of the season, but I don't think they did.

I thought the Mets overachieved in the regular season last year so this season wasn't that surprising to me.

The Pads have almost a billion dollars committed to Machado, Tatis and Bogaerts and none of them have an OPS over .800. :picard:

I know @Remote loves Soto but I need to see more out of him. I'm sure one fool team will talk themselves into some ungodly contract for him but the production just isn't there to justify it. Why should he get more than Yordan Alvarez?

Juan Soto has an .883 OPS so far this season.
That's 11th in baseball, and pretty good for a guy who plays in San Diego.

He's only 24 and turns 25 in October.
If he were on the market, a team like the Yankees should absolutely throw the bag at him.

I would say that Yordan Alvarez is the better offensive player. But can he even play a full season without something sending him to the IL?

Anyway, it doesn't matter much what Alvarez makes in comparison to Soto.
If Soto gets a massive deal and Alvarez believes he's worth more...that's between Alvarez, his agent, and the Astros. Get your money, Yordan.
