About the braves and dodgers it always seems like teams with good records and peak at the end of the season always lose in the early rounds, or am i tweaking
It's not a complete crapshoot but more often than not, the hottest team coming into the playoffs win, not the best teams. Look at Philly last season. Braves two seasons ago as well.I mean the Dodgers won in 2020 even though it was a short season and the Braves won it all in 2021 after a red hot second half of the season. The Red Sox won it all not long ago after winning like 108 games in the regular season.
This idea that the playoffs are a complete "crapshoot" is overblown by people like Cashman trying to save their job.
They're gonna throw in position versatility and defense for Mookie's case. Acuña has a higher average than Betts too. You're also wrong by the way. People don't really value batting average like they used to.Betts wont catch Acuna in hits, but ppl dont care about hits only average, like assist average as opposed to total assists on the nba.
Game ones are so important in best of three/five series. If your ace gets rocked, which is usually what happens when the favorites lose, it really puts teams behind the eight ball. So hard to recover from that. It's not a complete crapshoot but more often than not, the hottest team coming into the playoffs win, not the best teams. Look at Philly last season. Braves two seasons ago as well.
I do.They're gonna throw in position versatility and defense for Mookie's case. Acuña has a higher average than Betts too. You're also wrong by the way. People don't really value batting average like they used to.
Nats and that improbable ass run as wellIt's not a complete crapshoot but more often than not, the hottest team coming into the playoffs win, not the best teams. Look at Philly last season. Braves two seasons ago as well.
You're definitely in the minority on that. Just look at the general approach of hitters now. I know the game has changed but I hope these new rules start a shift towards prioritizing getting on base and playing small ball.I do.
They value average over hits, was the only point I madeThey're gonna throw in position versatility and defense for Mookie's case. Acuña has a higher average than Betts too. You're also wrong by the way. People don't really value batting average like they used to.
What if Acuña reaches 40 HRs and 70 SBs to go along with a higher average and a higher on base percentage? There's still an entire month of baseball to be played. They value average over hits, was the only point I made
Didn’t want to do this in the baseball thread, if Mookie has .300 average, 40 hrs, and a 100 rbi, he's the MVP
I don't think that's going to happen but yeah, that's enoughWhat if Acuña reaches 40 HRs and 70 SBs to go along with a higher average and a higher on base percentage? There's still an entire month of baseball to be played.
Batting average????Of the players that qualify, there are only NINE players in all of baseball that have a batting average that's higher than .300!
