I'm not a big believer in Marcus Stroman as a front end starter, but he's been good this year.
Today the Cubs won to bring their season record to 51-51.

There has been some talk about Cody Bellinger looking a lot more like his old MVP self this season.

What has NOT been talked about is how Justin Steele is 11-3 with a 2.87 ERA.
He's probably more of a 3.20 - 3.50 ERA guy. But he's been fantastic for the Cubs this year.

Maybe the Cubs aren't as far away from contending for a championship as people thought. Imagine they got Ohtani and another bat? I'm just saying...

Also Chris Morel had 3 more hits today. This dude continues to bat 7th in the lineup for no goddamn good reason. He needs to bat either in front of or behind Bellinger.

This isn't on Cohen though. This is on Eppler. They have already improved behind the scenes a lot. Eppler won't be running the show after game 162.
Spending all that money on Verlander, Scherzer and Lindor is absolutely on Cohen.

I know you have it out for Lindor lol and I get it but the money spent on Verlander and Scherzer is hardly the issue for Cohen/the Mets especially cuz those contracts are short. :yeshrug:

The player option on Scherzer's contract might be an issue for trades since I don't think they can send cash for that but this spending on Verlander/Scherzer was always a Hail Mary anyway since the farm wasn't in a position to contribute pitching wise.

I will admit it has been shaky in the front office which is on him but hopefully that'll be settled so we don't have third choice gms trading PCA for 2 months of Javy Baez and have Stearns in charge.
