He didnt go into a cave. The dragon was chilling on the beach sleepin. Her children or anyone else couldnt tie a leash to it and say sit. You cant steal something that doesnt have a master. It’s a mutual thing between dragon and rider. Don’t forget Aemond got ran out of the dragon pit by a dragon(not sure which one it was) so that was a case of a dragon he tried to claim telling him to kick rocks.
