I think y’all don’t have an appreciation for it like I did - I think this is one of those movies based on gender perspective. Like I don’t like The Thing as much as y’all do bc it’s more of a man’s man type of movie, whereas a woman, I could relate to Midsommar, love the setting -the depiction of her inner psychological turmoil and mental torture. Emotional needs. She just lost it and was in such need of acceptance and belonging - they relegated her to icon status of their cult at a time when she was most vulnerable. Like it just set the stage for a horrific set of events- I hated her friends. I had no sympathy for their demise. She was too good for them and they treated her like shyt; she was alone, her family dead, her bf cheating - she was too exposed.

I'm more of a story guy. Cinematography was great but as a writer my mind always goes to story first.
That story was deep deep - I’m not trying to be controversial or demean your position (or any of the men) but I think seeing it from a female perspective hit different for me.

Were those even her friends? They just seemed like the bf's classmates.

Yeah I can understand the difference. The Thing is about lack of communication and how not being open can lead to mistrust. Yes a lot of men would have ended up in the same situation as Childs and MaCreed.
