Both, it’s a damn free for all. So much displacement and poverty. Real estate is being sold to the top bidders all while Abiy feigns this image of a righteous leader of the people.
In all honesty, his regime is much more fearful and paranoid than the Woyane. They had absolute control so there was nothing to fear, it doesn’t feel like that’s the case with this current govt. That’s why this process of demolition and development has been so much more rapid compared to past govts. There were always plans to modernize the city but it’s clear as day that this is a very neoliberal approach which seeks the look of prosperity over the actual substance.

That’s how you know he ain’t bout shyt. The Tripartite between Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Somalia was the last good thing he did and all it took to end that was have AGOA taken away. Did I miss anything?
- The Ethiopian government has Abiy as the new PM.
- The government doesn't like Abiy so tries to get rid of him.
- This starts a rebellion, Tigray/Woyane vs Everybody else with Abiy leading the charge.
- Abiy et al is "thiiiiiiiiis close" to defeating the Tigray forces until the US steps in.
- Abiy relents.
- Everyone else turns against Abiy soon afterwards (why I dunno).
- Now it's Abiy vs Tigray vs Everyone else.
- Abiy is so desperate for a port that he's willing to piss off all his neighbors.
- While all this is going on, Ethiopia builds a damn, the GERD, and Egypt is pissed.
- Partly because Egypt lost its regional swag and can't give the perception that it can give orders to others.
- Officially, Egypt claims that the GERD takes water rights away from itself and Somalia.
