what patch you talking about?

I just started playing this GOAT game again because I haven’t played frozen wilds.

yall knockin this game needs to master the controls. Once you got that, fighting machines is fun as fukk. First game ever I didn’t mind farming for experience and supplies. It doesn’t seem like a chore like Final Fantasy.

A theoretical 60fps patch. I’m paranoid about playing games and then right after i finish a patch drops for it

So Cal
shyt is harder to me. I beat it in the hardest difficulty before and by the end shyt was easy. I'm playing new game + now and the shyt ain't nowhere near as easy. It's taking all my ammo to kill these things now.

In terms of actual performance, you are effectively looking at a locked 60fps experience that is nigh-on perfect. Even in backwards compatibility mode, PS5 offers substantial upgrades over PS4 Pro - a 2.5x multiplier in compute performance and twice the memory bandwidth. In prior 'back-compat plus' first-party patches, we've seen that translate into a performance bump that scales almost in line with the compute boost. With Horizon Zero Dawn specifically, we only noted one slight drop in an early cutscene, then it was a straight 60fps from there on out. If the game does deviate from the 60fps target, it should only do so fleetingly and you may not notice it at all. I'd describe performance overall as impeccable.

There are also some nice 'bonuses' in the patch beyond the 60fps upgrade. The official patch notes talk about improved streaming in backwards compatibility mode and we put this to the test by visiting the area of the game that Guerrilla itself told us was one of the most stressful in the game: Meridian. On PS4 Pro, running around this detail-rich area at speed causes obvious streaming issues, with both textures and geometry obviously popping in - sometimes egregiously so. The great news here is that PlayStation 5 completely solves this issue. On top of that, there are loading time improvements: starting the campaign involves around a minute of loading time on PS4 Pro, which drops to 31 seconds on PS5. On PC, this takes around 15 seconds with a 3.5GB/s NVMe drive, but regardless, it's still a nice boost.

Highlights:
  • Runs in backwards compatibility mode
  • Framerate has been unlocked to 60fps, and it seems to be a practically perfect lock. (They only observed one single drop, and it was in a cutscene)
  • Checkboard 4k
  • Load time (Cold boot - Start New Campaign)
    • PS4 Pro - 59 seconds
    • PS5 - 31 seconds
    • PC (3.5 GB/S NVME) - 15 seconds
  • Streaming issues (textures and geometry popping in) present on previous generation have been completely resolved.
  • Some cutscene oddities exacerbated/more visible with the jump to 60fps. Between camera cuts items or characters can quickly snap in to place.

I was about give the ps5 some serious props to run this game in 4k 60fps, but turns out its just the ps4 pro resolution made at 60fps,major disappointment, its basically doing what the ps4 pro was suppose to do because there's literally no difference from resolution and performance mode on the PRO

I'm glad I didn't buy a ps5, I hopefully the ps5 pro can deliver a true next gen experience, the base ps5 can't even run last gen games in native 4k and goddamn miles morales which is a ps4 game is only 30fps in native 4k

I'm about 3 chapters in, made my way to the Mother's Heart and said goodbye to the man..im just taking my time and determining the best way to deal with the machines. I got the stealth down pat but it seems like fighting them head on is a no-no :patrice:

I spent a good amount of time hunting so i can do the unlimited fast travel. im good on everything except the fox skin. I've killed about 10 and still haven't got one. Any advice on how to get one? I'm not trynna fight machines and sneak by just to get somewhere
full

so far so good but i'll be honest, first impressions, fighting the machines are not fun whatsoever. hopefully things change but im digging the story and want to see it play out :yeshrug:

it looks like i spoke too soon :snoop:

i changed the difficulty to story mode :mjlol:game is fire now. im diggin the open world too. its dope that most missions and quests are usually 200-500 steps away and you can sprint non stop and get there in a few minutes.

i downloaded the complete edition and i believe i finished up frozen wilds without realizing it until i started to google and saw the top right of my map had an extra section i wasn't seeing online. i just got to meridian and forgot the whole plot :mjlol:

I got platinum and got all the datapoints. I enjoyed the open world more than the combat to be honest. Forbidden West will probably be the first PS5 game i buy on release
