After four hours of hands-on with Horizon Forbidden West, we feel like we've only scratched the surface, but still found an incredible amount of detail in Guerrilla Games' sequel. Aloy's world is brought to life in much more vivid detail, with improved animation, new machines, an evolved combat system, and so much more. While we await its full release on Feb. 18 for PS4 and PS5, let's dig into 32 amazing details we discovered about Horizon Forbidden West, and why they should have you just as excited as we are as we dig into traversal, combat, exploration, and so much more.

So the in-game board game (that there exists no media of yet):
  • Called "Machine Strike".
  • It's 1v1. Knock out your opponents machines.
  • You move creature pieces around locations on the board.
  • The different board locations have different terrain types on them.
  • You collect these creature pieces throughout the main game world.
  • The creatures have different armors on each side (like FF8 Triple Triad?).

  • Grapping hook looks great for climbing, which there is more of.
  • Tons of weapon and combat improvements, though they don't interest me
  • Refilling your berries and sending the rest back to your stash in a town is a nice touch.
  • Highlighting robot parts you need automatically is great.
  • Side quests are tied more to NPCs than the first game. Getting slight Mass Effect squad vibes with this comment.
Not quite loyalty missions but expand your relationship with some of the main NPCs.
  • There's an armor quest similar to the shield armor in the first game.

Why doesn't Amazon have the PS5 version of Horizon Forbidden West but they do have the PS4 version? :dahell: I want to pre-order it.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven

It's free... Literally order the PS4 one if you have both

Thursday was to be a celebration of Horizon Forbidden West and the amazing team at Guerrilla working to deliver it on February 18, 2022. However, it’s abundantly clear that the offerings we confirmed in our pre-order kickoff missed the mark.

Last year we made a commitment to deliver free upgrades for our cross-gen launch titles, which included Horizon Forbidden West. While the pandemic’s profound impact pushed Forbidden West out of the launch window we initially envisioned, we will stand by our offer: Players who purchase Horizon Forbidden West on PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.
