lets not pretend that most of the images that are out there of the hood are of rainbows and lemonade. Most people living in the hood are regular ass people, but its not portrayed that way for the most part. When most people think of the word "hood", positivity is NOT the 1st thing that comes to mind. Thats why i speak so much about how we are portrayed in most instances. Our image is demonized intentionally. Whenever the news goes to the hood, best believe its not reporting about the "regular people"
But who demonizes us? And why should we be worried about how were portrayed? I don't care how they view us all I kno is I live it everyday and I'm a college grad with my own house good credit and no felonies. But of course nikkas like me aren't included in that portrayal

There are plenty of people like the late Marva Collins who work to improve people's lives in the hood.

I have done tutoring/volunteering and summer science programs.

What efforts do you make OP?
He just post on here talk about supporting black business (which is good), helping black women cause he a "nice guy" who gets bypassed by black women because he don't wear Jordan's, and talk of starting a business he hasn't started in about 2yrs even though he got time to post on here pretty often. Don't know why anybody would take this type of dude seriously outside of supporting good black business.

nikkas trip me out with the whole Jordan thing. Jordan's are the closest thing we have to a black owned show that nikkas would actually wear. I've researched black owned shoes and they were all tacky as hell

Truth and logic
How did hood become viewed as a negative? Cuz of whites. All we did was take the word neighborhood and flip it cuz that's what we do. We're genius. We're resourceful. Putting foil on some rabbit ears so you can watch tv is hood. Grandma selling $5 plates out the back door is hood. Hustle man coming to the barbershop is hood. Ain't nothing negative about none of that.

Then reclaim it as a positive so that people won't associate it with attitudes that dont respect people's time or aggressive attitudes that are not warranted.

Reclaim it as something positive so that people don't associate the word with uncontrolled sexual behavior and foul music.

Reclaim it as creative genius so that people don't associate it with violence and unsavory living conditions.

When people say they are from the hood and use that as a tactic to intimidate people, stop them and ask them if they know what they are implying.

Otherwise people will continue to separate hood from ghetto linguistically speaking.

I always claimed it that way. I never thought anything negative about the word hood. Now if we wanna talk about the word ghetto we can run with that. But we all kno ghettos were created for the oppressed

Nah its a way mainly online dudes try to be snowflakian or honestly just like their "cac" counter parts that say shut along them lines. Since I don't pay dudes bills and the vast majority or not family/friends no offense but I don't care what they buy. That's a personal choice each person has to make but I'm not going to make it some referendum on blacks and bad spending like most people regardless of race ain't spending money on dumb shyt

"Hood" and "Ghetto" are essentially euphemisms for N***er and if a black
person is using those words to demean black people they're probably a
really ignorant person. What's really lame is when they're masquerading
as some sort of Black progressive who "really cares" about black people.
I've said it a dozen times by now but there are posters on here that get away
with saying some heinous shyt about black people as long as they dress it up
as "genuine concern".

I mean just look at the people who've landed in my sig.

Sheltered cats exposing themselves , the ignorant portion of the hood is merely one aspect of it , I've encountered more educated , smart and genuine people in the hood than I have in higher class environments because when you're deprived from alot it only intensifies your hunger for knowledge and various other things , Malcolm X was considered hood coming up but he's one the most revered black figures ever , it's funny how ya perpetuates the bigot white mans version of what it means to be hood as if ya subconsciously perceive your own people the same way they do , our primary goal anyway is make sure black prosper by building and supporting our own not appeasing the mind of whites , ya need to examine ya mind state real quick

Hood life is just another experience. Like Tribal life, WASP life, rural life. It's not inherently bad. If you think it is it's because of white supremacy and propaganda that uses coded words to equate the hood with negativity. That's why I encourage people to say what they mean.

Yall have a problem is ignorance, glorified violence and the like. That is hood life but a byproduct of systematic oppression. These hoods were fine before Regan and the crack era so the real problem you have is with that not the hood.
Lets not act like there arent times where we ourselves choose to put down our own.

I know racist whites actions and I have been going at them for ages but some of our people still promote it too.

Some of our people refuse to build with what they have and some of our people refuse to resist the temptations of the situation we are in.

Lets be real here.

Have you started a business yet mother fukker or are you still special snowflaking nikka? You can't be respected fam telling people how to run their shyt while you ain't doing shyt of note yourself. Nobody worth a shyt going to pay attention,to that just like a bum giving out finance advice.
I'm working on it.

Rome wasnt built in a day idiot

What do you do to support the black community?

Gonna start a black business.

I also guide young black men to get rid of the hood mentality.

Thanks for asking
