Hood mentality

The hood isn't a place that should be glorified. People should strive to get out of it. When I used to volunteer at the rec center. Teens talking about their "hood" I would ask them where does your favorite athlete or rapper live? They would look at me with blank stares. I would say I'll give you one guess. It's NOT THE HOOD!

So if the hood is so great, why don't they live there? The kids really had nothing to say. I encouraged them to get education or a trade that is in demand. Move far away from the hood.

I agree with this but my twist is that we should strive for more "black suburbs" so to speak.

Yeah I think you know what he is talking about. The ignorant mind set of fukk school, I'm sellin drugs. I rep the hood but don't own shyt in it, Imma make the NBA or NFL, that nikka got more than me so take his shyt,etc. I can go on for days.

That crab in the bucket mentality is just a byproduct of oppression. nikkas say fukk school ima sell drugs cuz they either 1) lack guidance or 2) gotta eat. That's ignorance and not everything in the hood is ignorant. This thread is very narrow minded

We know what it is but that doesnt mean we shouldnt try to resist it. They havent defeated us yet.

I personally dont care what its called if that will make you happy. The name isnt that important cuz I just want the place that our people reside in to improve.

If you want to call the new area that isnt full of low income housing and actually has good homes and houses and schools that care about the kids "the hood" once we rise up then feel free.

I dont care much about semantics.

Hood mentlaity is just a term to describe a negative set of behaviors that needs to be one away with. No need for you and the various others who came at me to get defensive.

The hood mentality is "ignorant and remedial."

You can live in the hood and be from the hood and not have the hood mentality.

The hood mentality automatically leads you to either be in jail or dead

I feel at home in black areas too but I don't feel at home in the "hood" with those with the hood mentality

2 posts was talking about a mentality and how I think we need to get rid of the mentality and the 3rd one was me suggesting we turn the hood into a black suburb.

You have very idealistic view of things. I'm all for erasing ignorance but that means we need to change our schools and improve our families. Our only real option is the latter. On top of that you know how capitalism works. The Constitution was written with intention to keep us down. What we need is our own nation (which won't happen) and we need to educate each other instead of pointing fingers

Everybody didnt shyt on my thread. Some people agreed and some people didnt.
