I’m pretty sure if you’ve been on the subway you’re aware of how crazy it can get, but this isn’t that kind of situation. The train was stopped, which means everyone could’ve got off and left him to his own devices.

Or you subdue him enough for yourself to escape the threat (if you are under a direct physical threat, which he wasn’t). In fact, if the homeless dude had some type of weapon I can guarantee they all would’ve ran off the train.
