Pat Riley is much better than Bob. The worst thing Pat did was pay Hassan Whiteside, and he managed to get off that contract and still compete. At least hassan made an all-defensive team. Poole is a bench player. He's being compared to JR fukking Smith, who also flourished as a 6th man. You NEVER pay JR Smith that much money.
I'm not sure which direction they go, but i would LIKE the FO to actually do their jobs. That means getting off Poole and Kuminga because they don't fit at all. Find pieces that work. I have no issue with them using their draft picks, but the picks have to fukking fit what they're trying to do. Stop drafting a bunch of "project players", especially when you've shown no ability to develop at all. Like i said in the previous thread, Jimmy's backup guys are undrafted but they're in their mid to late 20s. Steph will be retired by the time Kuminga, Moody, PBJ, Rollins are in their mid to late 20s. Steph will be 39 by the time Poole is 27. He helped us get that title last season and we thank him, but him being a Warriors has run its course. Like, if the Warriors used their 19th pick to draft Kris Murray and moved their leftover 2nd round picks to get Jaime Jacquez, 2 4-year guys (already older than Kuminga, Poole, Moody, PBJ and Rollins) with good BBIQ who fit what the warriors wanna do, i'd have no issue.
I can't name you names specifically, but the Warriors gotta move poole, who is set to make over 30 million dollars on average over the next 4 years. You just don't pay that much money to a 6th man. I get that the Warriors would like to play him as a starter when Steph is out, but what about when steph ISN'T out? His defense is never gonna be good enough to justify that contract. You see what the Heat are doing w/o Herro? You see how teams that had Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford never won shyt? Inefficient bench scoring doesn't matter. If you were to replace Poole with Alex Caruso, or a 31 year old Andre Iguodala, or Josh Hart, your chances of winning would increase greatly. What they don't give you in PPG, they give in rebounds, playmaking, wing defense, etc. Poole's PPG is not worth it. As i said earlier, Kuminga is not a good fit for this team. Even taking away all the "attitude" talk, as a player he's a bad fit. He can't rebound, shoot, dribble, or pass. He was only drafted high because he can jump high. But you look at the other wings in that draft, like Franz, Trey Murphy, Giddey, Keegan Murray, etc. They aren't super athletic, but they have good feel and IQ and are way more helpful to their teams than kuminga. Keegan was a rookie starter on a playoff team. Even when wiggins was out, and we didnt have GP2 healthy, Kerr never even thought to start Kuminga at the 3 or 4. Why? because he has none of the foundational skills needed for a wing, and if you play him at the PF spot, he's a woefully bad rebounder. There are too many issues with his game, and he's not gonna fix then overnight. If he ever fixes it, Steph will be 40+ years old by then. So we will waste the remaining years Steph has for a guy that would have us in the lottery regardless.
That's what people gotta understand. As soon as steph retires, we are gonna be a top 5 lottery pick team, reliably. So we might as well give Steph the best chances at competing because it's all downhill from here regardless
