On a tangent My friends with kids are always annoyed by kid shows trying to sneak agendas in.
It became less about film and more so about punching in on those categories. I think that's why people are annoyed by them and intentionally panning certain films. Unfortunately the same criticism might be done by white people about black people in certain roles. But Black people are a big enough demographic where we can still survive.

Yup. Its like when ppl bandwagon the complaints about shows "pandering" to such n such. Muthafukkas need to realize that every movie or show in existence panders to somebody.
Once you cast human characters to star in your story, the race and orientation of the characters immediately informs you who is being pandered to. It's just that pandering to white males became a default world state in America that ppl don't recognize it for what it is.
I’ve always seen melanin in TV and film, I grew up watching mainly black shows mixed in with the mainstream stuff which we were also in. 2020 protest has led to some good and bad casting when it comes to us in the mainstream

Historically, Hollywood made a point to have white America's european phenotype at the fore front of all forms of fiction to the point where it appears "natural" for them to be Jedi, Kryptonians, wizards, demigods, Disney princesses and all sorts of sci-fi and fantasy characters.
...while limiting black America's west african phenotype to just the American experience (i.e. hood movies, slave/civil rights movies, and however you categorize those Waiting to Exhale / Tyler Perry joints.) to the point where seeing a "black" person outside of those parameters seems "unnatural", "forced", and "woke".
Producing/Controlling your own media is important (for those fortunate enough to be able to) but so is leveraging your voice and buying power as consumers. In your YT comments, rotten tomato reviews, social media, etc., be very specific with what you want and that you're only going to pay for that.

The “female” lead on House Of The Dragon is a “they” who is bisexual, and yet has been with a man for years. It was “their” idea to add that kiss in, so it wasn’t on the writers. I wonder if “they” would reject a female actress nomination.
