Letting Melton go was a good move. Losing a decent player from one of the weakest units in the league is always the way to go.

SI's Andrew Brandt suspects teams will be scared away by free agent DeMarco Murray's huge workload last season and that Dallas will be able to bring him back on a "team-friendly" contract.

The shelf life for a running back isn't long and there's sure to be wear and tear on Murray after his absurd workload last season (497 touches including the playoffs). Teams rarely give out long-term deals to free agent running backs, a trend that should continue in the wake of recent failures like Ray Rice, Larry Johnson, and Chris Johnson. If Murray finds a colder market than he expects, going back to Dallas at a team-friendly rate may end up being his best option.

Yes because Dallas has no chance to improve this unit via free agency and in the draft. Dallas is now 16 million under the cap without the Brandon Carr paycut and without restructuring Romo and Smith. They could have 40 million in cap space by March 2nd.

I don't know about doing the Romo/Carr restructuring esp Romo after hearing what I heard last week on one of them Cowboys shows. They said if they do that we might have to keep trotting Romo out cause of a major cap hit the more we do,that. If we don't restructure he will have to be here 2 more years but everytime you restructure you push that time back further or something like that. Romo my people's and all but fukk that where we have to have him and he stinking it up

Yeah I read that Stephen was thinking this last month which would be the smarter decision. I just said that as an option on what the Cowboys can do this offseason.

Gotcha and I agree that is the smarter decision.
