First of all, i can't believe i found someone like you on TheColi of all placesYou're trying to derail my point. I am not talking about the specific issues of BLM and trans rights. Though I used a real world example I'm actually talking about the governing logic behind people's behavior rather than the actual target of that logic. You could take the example I I said switch it to fat people or Muslims or a host of other differences between human beings have. It's still the same core logic.
If you buy this game J.K. Rowling a person who is against trans people will stand to gain from it as a person with ownership of that IP. That person uses their recourses and platform to attack trans rights. That is a fact. You trying to dumb it down to oh it's just a video game doesn't change that. It also doesn't delegitimize the fact that it's the exact issue they voiced on their forum in opposition to it. A purchase of the game whether or not you intend for it to supports a person who is against those people.
You can talk about slave labor or whatever you want. Doesn't change that point. Also why would they stop watching Marvel movies over Disney standing up to the government over Don't Say Gay? What kind of sense does that make? Disney was on their side DeSantis attempted to retaliate against Disney for it.
I digress tho, anyways, lets break yalls strawman argument, shall we?
I find yall to be INCREDIBLY hypocritical in the moral standpoint yall claim to come from, JK Rowling IS NOT transphobic, at least not in the beginning, she had advocated for trans rights and been VERY LGBTQ-friendly both in her work (books) and outside of it.
Her main point years ago was not diminishing biological women to "women who menstruate" the EXTENSIVE letter she wrote afterward more than explained where she came from but obviously the trans extremists and their virtue-signaling allies weren't going to see things that way, its either their way or the high way.
JK Rowling had for years been bullied, doxxed, and harassed 24/7 since that letter no matter what she did, I don't blame her for one second for getting aggressive in her delivery now, not one bit, when you constantly call someone something they're not, there comes a time they give in and just accept that for who they are. I'm glad she's not relenting and letting these people bully her into silence
Secondly, on the topic of hogwarts legacy, imma make it simple for yall, it's a question of morality, that's where it starts and ends. One thing i noticed is that YALL don't want to be held to the same standards yall want to hold harry potter fans/ hogwarts legacy buyers to. I said this multiple times on Twitter, but no one gave me a satisfactory answer, why are the loudest boycotters on Twitter, owned by a KNOWN racist and transphobic man? Apart from effectively adding to his wealth, it's also the moral high ground they very much expect to see the rest of us on concerning the support of JK/ purchase of the game, why are they on his site to begin with? why are they using phones which utilize child slaves for mining resources? The same goes for clothes and shoes
When these questions are rightfully posed, that stupid meme talking about living in a society is used as a response. There's no ethical consumption in today's capitalist society
