The Song Maker and the SK 5
OP speaks truth.......the entire gender dynamic in hiphop was different in 88-94.......sure there were songs for females but they were seemingly exempted other than having "a song for the girls"

I remember when perfoorming oral sex on a woman was taboo, like Pooh Man (MC Pooh) was one of the first cats to talk about that. Now cats talkin bout eating booty and allatt.......

Stick to R&B. Hip hop about anti establishment.
please :childplease:
rappers sell their music, it's up to their fans to control the market with their purchasing power
if you bow out and let every other group support what you don't like, don't turn around and cry when what you like isn't doing well or is adapting to the market
if rap is anti establishment, let it be anti, and we don't have to talk about album sales or what's mainstream at all, but that's not how it works
making music isn't free and if a certain genre isn't doing well, it's because it's audience isn't supporting them
at the end of the day, a rapping ass rapper isn't going to outsell beyonce or rihanna but they can still do well for themselves, and wouldn't need to pander to make money
so instead of blaming bytches for buying music they like, how about you blame nikkas for not buying music they like

Hip Hop best albums and songs been about being your own figure/diety and making songs that the majority hate, like "Fight the Power." Today, most of these c00n rappers be on that #newblack bullshyt when the majority of Black communities still suffer fro. Police brutality, but never mentioned by them.

Problem with the profit model is, too many outsiders just want to feel safe in an unsafe world and b*stardize Hiphop to this corporate music nonsense.

i don't really give af about top 40 nikkas and whatnot. Way i see it hip hop is fukked might as well listen to the broke and rich nikkas that do it out of love of the music than spend a moment of life on any sewage these other nikkas put out for the bytches.

then it's up to rappers to stop trying to get rich :ld:
the market is super oversaturated and everyone wants to be a businessman
it's hard for "fight the power" type stuff to gain traction today, imo
whether that's because of the internet, pop rappers selling out stadiums, or just the sheer amount of rappers (and just musicians) that exist but the model is different now
somebody could always come up with something different tho
