Dude's almost 50 dropping albums on a true independent label. What "impact" you expect him to have far as pop culture crossover? The impact is he proving older acts can still drop high quality projects and there's an audience for it.

Dropping independent albums that chart top 5 or top 10 a great showing regardless. Especially for an artist 20 years past their peak popularity. He been doing this without major label marketing budgets and machine behind him

Only hip hop acts from Nas age bracket or older that's topping his KD sales if they drop tomorrow is Em, Dre and Jay. They all been more popular than him for decades. And they get a ton more promo and marketing push from Interscope and Roc Nation every time they drop

Look at Snoop, dude was a much bigger crossover star than Nas at their peaks. He dropped a dope album with a damn Super Bowl performance to promote it and debuted at #104. And you got dudes dismissing the KD albums for debuting top 10? This obsession with sales and charts so tired, nine times out of ten that shyt got way more to do with marketing than quality

Hit Maka is right

If he is he still lost

The Young Berg produced Jim Jones album failed to debut within the top 50. Which means its sold less than 12K last week.

Every Hit Boy produced Nas album has debuted within the top 25. With all three Kings Disease albums debuting in the top ten.

And Magic was a surprise release with zero promo that dropped during the holidays where the entire Top 200 gets shifted due to Christmas albums overwhelming the charts.

If he would have dropped that two weeks later, and did the same 23,000 first week, he would have potentially been in the top 10.

But these aren’t things Nas is thinking about evidently.

Can’t believe that deception chain about to be on this next wu/nas world tour. That chain can’t catch a break.

KD 3 had promo and did like 28k so what u said don’t matter

I don’t get nas fanbase at all. 3 top 10 debuts. But them shyts combined for 7 or 8 weeks in the top 200. They last 2 weeks of 3 weeks. Then gone

Why is Nas the only rapper to be judged like this?

Because Nas has little to no interest in publicly proclaiming his accolades and accomplishments. He also doesn’t put his foot on other nikkas necks as long or as hard as he could

In some ways though that works for him in the long run, its what makes him mature. For example, Jeezy said that when he and Nas had their little misunderstanding he was heated because he always looked up to Nas and when Nas called him he wss expecting to go to war but Nas wasn’t on that type of time and spoke to him man to man and called him a King and by the time the conversation was over Jeezy was basically eating out of Nas hand. That led to them doing My President Is Black, which was a hit single and video.

Same thing with the 21 Savage situation. Instead of dissing and going back and forth, Nas chose the high road and they had a conversation that led to them collabing for One Gun One Mic, which ended up charting number 1 on itunes rap charts.

Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, from 50 Cent to Nore, who have expressed problems with Nas have eventually come forward and given him his props. Cormega has been saying for years that Nas is more mature than him and it took him awhile to understand how and why Nas moves the way he does.

I think Nas understands that feeding negativity does nothing more than beget MORE negativity. Nas went at it with Biggie, Tupac, and Jay-Z during all of their PRIMES and was able to come out still on top. Shots from somebody as candy cane lane corny as Yung Berg probably mean absolutely nothing to him compared to how it was in the 90’s and early 2000’s. I mean whose really going to be talking about or discussing Yung Berg’s opinions on cultural impact next week let alone next year. Whose going to be discussing Quentin Miller’s bogus writing claims? Melle Mel’s bullshyt rants? Vlad’s weird beat obsession?

I don’t fukk with Drake anymore as an artist but he struck gold when he sampled Jimmy Smith on Pound Cake

“Only the real music is gonna last. All that other bullshyt, is here today gone tomorrow.”
